The day before I arrived at the scenic area, it had snowed heavily, and the entire canyon was covered in a blanket of white. The snow-capped mountains on both sides reflected each other beautifully, and the mighty Yellow River meandered through the canyon, creating a magnificent winter landscape. There were very few tourists that day; we were practically the only two people there. This tranquil atmosphere allowed us to immerse ourselves more fully in appreciating the wonders of nature. The scenic area boasts a wealth of attractions, including the Ancient Town of Qingtongxia, the Yellow River Iron Bridge, the dam, the 108 Pagodas, the Qin King's Ancient Ferry, and the statue of Yu the Great. The 108 Pagodas, in particular, are a national key cultural relic protection unit. Facing east and backed by mountains, overlooking the water, the number 108 is derived from the 36 Heavenly Stars and 72 Earthly Fiends, representing good fortune and the elimination of worries. My top recommendation is the B-line boat tour. A boat trip on the Yellow River offers stunning views of the ten-mile-long gorge, including Guanyin Terrace, Heavenly Book Pavilion, Crocodile Rock, Shrimp Wall, Three Gully Valley, Washing Heart Spring, Qingtongxia Stone Carvings, Sleeping Buddha Mountain, and many other scenic spots. The scenery near the Dayu Cultural Park is particularly beautiful. Du Yousu Lamb Offal Soup is a must-try popular restaurant. The art gallery-style decor is eye-catching, and the lamb offal soup making technique, passed down for four generations, has been listed as an autonomous region-level intangible cultural heritage. We ordered lamb offal soup, beef noodle soup, noodles, and flatbread, spending a total of over 80 yuan. The taste and photos were both excellent. Morning tea culture is a major feature of Wuzhong. I chose Dingxiangxiang Morning Tea Shop near my accommodation. Around 11:00 AM, the shop was almost full. Wuzhong morning tea has developed into three basic varieties: Eight Treasure Tea, Beef Noodles, and Lamb Offal Soup, along with five major series and over 200 main varieties: pastries, side dishes, beef dishes, liquid foods, and tea drinks. We tried two cold dishes, fried dumplings, pancakes, and glutinous rice balls. I especially recommend the Eight Treasure Tea, which can be taken away; at 12 yuan, it's great value. The total cost for our morning tea was 90 yuan. For the barbecue experience, due to the inconvenience of traveling in the snow, we chose Sanlitun Barbecue. Their tandoor-roasted lamb chops were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. A set meal for around 100 yuan allowed us to enjoy a variety of exquisite dishes. Wuzhong's hand-pulled lamb is also very distinctive. Represented by Yanchi Tan sheep, Wuzhong lamb is tender, without any gamey smell, and has evenly distributed fat. Practical Tips Summary: Regarding scenic spot ticket prices, the Qingtongxia Yellow River Grand Canyon offers various package tickets. The adult price for the Yellow River rafting package (Route B) is 258 yuan, and the canyon boat tour package is 185 yuan; the adult price for the ancient pagoda exploration package (Route A) is 115 yuan. Tickets can be purchased online, and using platform coupons offers even better deals. Wuzhong boasts a unique and ritualistic morning tea culture. Local morning tea is often enjoyed in noodle shops, including eight-treasure tea, a table full of noodles and side dishes, plus a serving of beef, and ending with a bowl of beef noodles. The Qingtongxia Yellow River Grand Canyon is a national AAAA-level scenic area, which has recently been upgraded to a national 5A-level tourist attraction. The scenic area has convenient facilities such as restrooms and parking. The advantage of off-season travel is that you can avoid peak tourist seasons and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the scenic area, especially the Yellow River Grand Canyon after a snowfall, which is breathtakingly beautiful. This off-season trip to Wuzhong made me deeply understand the true meaning of "Travel in Ningxia, eat in Wuzhong." Whether it's the natural wonders of the Qingtongxia Yellow River Grand Canyon or Wuzhong's rich and diverse culinary culture, both are worth a special trip.
