XUN WU SHUI YAN CAN TING

During the Chinese New Year, since my mother's hometown Wuzhen is relatively close, I decided to visit the ancient town after the second day of the Chinese New Year. Because of the epidemic, the scenic spots are not very lively, and the nearby restaurants are not fully open. We still called the restaurant in advance to confirm that it was open and booked a private room before going. The location of the hotel is close to the entrance of the ancient town parking lot. The environment of the hotel is relatively elegant, the service is thoughtful and enthusiastic, and the dishes are quite tasty. It is a rare recommendation for gourmets near the scenic spot.

First meal in Wuzhen, there are many people queuing, remember to go early. The decoration of the store is very characteristic of Jiangnan water town. White water fish: White water fish tastes light, and the steamed fish exudes the fragrance of the fish itself, without any fishy smell. Braised pork with dried bamboo shoots: There are a few pieces of braised pork with dried bamboo shoots, and then they smoothly absorb the greasy taste of the meat, and the bamboo shoots taste very fragrant and the meat is not fishy. Choy sum: A light dish that can neutralize the fishy smell of meat.

The first meal I bought for my trip to Wuzhen before the National Day was a group meal for 3-4 people. It was a pleasant surprise. The portions were large enough for four people, and the environment was good. The dishes were delicious, and the Dongpo pork melted in one bite. Two bottles of drinks were also given.

The aroma is so good. The service is very good. The boss lady gave us some rice wine balls. I won’t say anything else. Let’s eat.

After reading many travel guides, I decided to stay within the Wuzhen scenic area to experience the tranquility of Wuzhen in the mornings and evenings when there are no tourists. The guesthouses within the scenic area are all under unified management; check-in is done directly at the visitor center upon entering the scenic area, and a shuttle bus takes you directly to your room, which is very convenient. My room had a small balcony with a view of Dingsheng Bridge. 2️⃣Food🍽️: Xunwu Water Banquet Restaurant (highly recommended), Spicy Wuzhen, Jinji Pastry Shop (delicious mung bean cake), Braised Duck Shop, Tongji Rice Dumplings 3️⃣Sightseeing: Route 1: Route 2: Mao Dun Memorial Hall → Floating Market (Morning Tea) → Xuchang Sauce Shop 4️⃣ Drinking Tea and Listening to Music: Wuzhen Xizha Storytelling Hall. If you go in the morning, you can listen for free. Order a pot of tea, have some snacks, and listen to Pingtan (a traditional storytelling art form). It's very relaxing 😌 5️⃣ Rowing Boat: You can first walk from the entrance of the scenic area all the way to the White Lotus Pagoda at the innermost part. Buy tickets at the dock and take a boat back to the entrance of the scenic area. The boat we took in the evening wasn't hot, and we enjoyed the night view. 6️⃣ Those who want morning tea must make a reservation in advance. We couldn't get one, so we ate at our guesthouse. 7️⃣ Before entering the scenic area, you can get a qipao or traditional Chinese style makeup and styling done. It's a great look for photos in the ancient town. There are many makeup and styling shops outside the scenic area.
