Sometimes you need to pause yourself. I'm a restless person. Every weekend I want to explore the surrounding areas of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. Sometimes, I'm even too lazy to move and just want to find a comfortable, quiet B&B to relax and unwind. And so, I stumbled upon a treasure—Slow Village Daohe Yunshe. I love places with character, and this trip was a blast! Nestled in an ancient street, the B&B boasts blue bricks and black tiles, and a unique and tranquil courtyard. It feels like stepping back in time to a traditional two-story courtyard house. It's incredibly impressive. The courtyard has two spacious bedrooms, both primary and secondary, and they also come equipped with a kitchen, living room, and lounge. It's perfect for families or groups of friends, but not for two people. The cost is optional (of course, it's up to the wealthy!) The daily necessities in the room are also high-quality. Before check-in, the housekeeper turned on the air conditioning! The sudden drop in temperature brought a touch of warmth—so nice! There were even two spare umbrellas in the living room. Every detail shows care. For a detail-oriented person like me, it felt like the room was meticulously crafted. In the evening, our dedicated butler thoughtfully turned on the courtyard lights for us, giving us a glimpse into the old-world charm of a wealthy family. I also loved the amenities of the ancient street. Just down the alley from our stay was a cafe run by Yunshe, featuring simple, retro decor. I've heard it's a local internet sensation. The butler suggested we go after dinner, as it's always packed with people checking in on weekdays. The next day, we had morning tea in the ancient street. "Skin-wrapped water" is a local Taizhou specialty, and it was a truly relaxing experience. After living in the hustle and bustle of life, here you can slow down and truly experience waterside life. The design inspiration for the Ruyi Huanxi Courtyard, a homestay in Taizhou's Slow Village, comes from a leisure and entertainment lifestyle that the people of Taizhou love: playing mahjong. If the other two courtyards belong to a relatively elegant culture, this courtyard reflects the lively and joyful folk customs of Taizhou. After understanding the lifestyle of the local people in Taizhou, this courtyard was made very down-to-earth and unique, so "mahjong" was used as a highlight to reflect this atmosphere of good luck and joy. The virtual owner of the Ruyi Huanxi Courtyard is Wang Yizhe, an entrepreneur in the Qing Dynasty who ran a salt and flour business.
