The "crabapple cake" is round, like a small moon cake, and the "plum blossom cake" is like an egg cone, but the filling is all red bean paste, which is sweet and children like to eat very much. Huang Tianyuan is located on the famous Guanqian Street in Suzhou, close to Caizhizhai. Many people come to patronize it early in the morning. Many people come to buy their cakes, which look really big and sticky. Lard cakes, red bean cakes, etc. are popular choices. They are 5 yuan each, but they are really thick. But you have to pay for the bag here.

Huang Tianyuan's meat dumplings contain minced meat, bamboo shoots and mushrooms. After buying them, the auntie will pour fresh soup for you. By the way, I also bought mint cakes. I didn't choose the soft mint cakes made of glutinous rice flour, but the textured mint cakes similar to sponge cakes. They are especially delicious when eaten cold.

I came to Suzhou for two days and wanted to buy some Suzhou specialties at the supermarket. I couldn't find any supermarket in Suzhou, only more formal stores selling local specialties like Huang Tianyuan and Caizhizhai. We bought Begonia cakes at Huang Tianyuan. Especially around the Qingming Festival, there is a kind of fermented rice cake, which is made of brown sugar and lard inside, and the outer skin is fermented rice cake.
