Strolling along the cobblestone streets of the hometown of the Calligrapher Sage, the aroma of ink mingled with the lively atmosphere. Growing increasingly hungry, I quickly opened a review app and immediately spotted the highly-rated "Lantingji." Originally, I'd chosen the Cangqiao Straight Street branch, and was just about to hail a taxi when I glanced up and saw a sign on the corner—"Lantingji (Hometown of the Calligrapher Sage)!" This delightful surprise instantly set the stage for my culinary adventure. Upon entering, we were greeted with enthusiastic welcomes. The waiters quickly seated us, handed us our orders, and even inquired about our preferences. Since we were in Shaoxing, we couldn't miss the authentic Shaoxing cuisine, so we ordered a table full of specialties: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside fried stinky tofu, fragrant rice cakes, uniquely flavored soy-braised crab, refreshing and delicious Shaoxing stir-fries, and even the local signature steamed three stinky dishes. What was even more delightful was a 0.1 yuan check-in promotion on a certain review site. Not only did I get a refreshing Shaoxing wine pudding, but it also came with complimentary fennel beans and Tai Diao milk tea. I specifically requested it be warm when ordering, and to my surprise, after the milk tea arrived, the waiter came back to confirm: "Hello, we've brought you a warm Tai Diao milk tea, is that correct?" This thoughtful gesture instantly warmed my heart. During the meal, the restaurant manager came over to ask for our feedback. We politely mentioned, "The soy sauce crab is very authentic, but it's a little too salty—I've heard that Shaoxing cuisine is generally on the salty side, so perhaps we've eaten too bland food." Unexpectedly, the manager immediately apologized, smiling and saying, "Don't worry, we'll get you something to balance the saltiness right away." Soon after, a plate of their homemade drunken prawns arrived, their fresh and sweet flavor perfectly balancing the saltiness of the soy sauce crab. Throughout the meal, the tea was refilled and the plates were changed at just the right time, without disrupting the dining experience, making us feel comfortably cared for. In the hometown of the Sage of Calligraphy, a place steeped in cultural heritage, Lantingji not only satisfied my appetite with a table of authentic Shaoxing cuisine, but also imbued this culinary journey with emotional value through its sincere and attentive service. Next time I visit Shaoxing's ancient streets, this restaurant will definitely be my first choice!
