Shangri-La off-season trip (self-driving without hiking) 1 Mid-Autumn Festival + 5 days off, 8 days and 7 nights of self-driving in Yunnan! This time the route is Lijiang-Haba Snow Mountain-Namtso-Dukezong Ancient Town-Bottomless Lake-Meili Snow Mountain. The main feature is a casual freedom, so the whole play rhythm is very slow, the first few days basically slept until naturally awake 😌 Shangri-La in September is off-season, fewer tourists are relatively quiet (i people are ecstatic). The weather is very changeable, often the sun rises in the east and rains in the west, and the scenery in the mountains will have different feelings with the weather changes. Ultraviolet rays are still very strong, and you need to pay attention to sun protection throughout the journey! The roads to the bottomless lake and Meili Snow Mountain are mostly winding mountain roads. There are occasional landslides and gravel sections in the bottomless lake in September. Meili Snow Mountain recommends taking the old national highway over the Baima Snow Mountain Pass, with a maximum altitude of 4,400 meters, but the scenery is very good. Driving on these two sections of road will test your driving skills. It is recommended to rent a car with good off-road performance. The back mountain is an ecological park. I think it is more primitive than Lijiang Ancient Town, and there are fewer bars. If you go out in the afternoon and evening, you can still see locals washing clothes in the stream. There will be more tourists in the morning. The accommodation is Huajiantang, a Naxi protected building, a small courtyard with three entrances and three exits, a bit like going to a windy place, and it is quite characteristic of Yunnan. The butler service is also very considerate, and there are battery cars to pick up at the entrance of the ancient town. Haba Snow Mountain: Depart from Lijiang, along the East Ring Road, passing through Tiger Leaping Gorge, about 3 hours drive. You can hike near Tiger Leaping Gorge. Picture 1 was taken at the check-in point of Tigerbucks on the upper floor of Halfway. However, it is halfway up the mountain. If you drive, you have to go up a very steep single-lane mountain road. It was really scary when you merged with the car. Picture 2-13 is the Yunjie Glamping tent camp, facing Haba Snow Mountain directly. You can lie down and look at the mountain. The aesthetics of the camp are very good. I highly recommend it! This is a base for climbing Haba Snow Mountain. I met many warriors who were ready to go in the early morning, but we didn’t have enough physical strength, so we just looked at the scenery halfway up the mountain.
