Xiadi Ancient Village in Pingnan, Ningde, Fujian, is a beautiful and quiet place that attracts many young artists. The most popular place in the ancient village is Pioneer Bookstore. There are more people in Pioneer Bookstore during holidays. Instead, I prefer to come to this "Xiadi Coffee House"☕, read a book📚, and enjoy a quiet afternoon. I especially like the layout of this coffee house, which was rebuilt from an ancient house. The retro nostalgic style seems to have traveled back to the 1960s. Every corner can be seen to be carefully decorated, and the photos are very good. The scenery outside the window is also beautiful and healing. I really like this place ❤️ The owner came to this village to volunteer and stayed here, and he runs this coffee house and B&B. The food in the store is not very delicious❌, so I can only make do with it. After all, in such a mountain village, the conditions are relatively limited. ⛰️Xiadi Village, with a history of more than 800 years, was founded in the Yuan Dynasty, formed in the Ming Dynasty, and flourished in the Qing Dynasty. Far away from the city, the transportation is blocked. It takes at least two and a half hours to drive from Fuzhou Airport, and the nearest high-speed rail station Gutian North also takes one and a half hours. Even if you navigate to your destination, you will miss the "small mouth that seems to have light" and miss this paradise if you are not careful. The stone steps on the east side of the stone bridge at the entrance of the village lead all the way to the depths of the valley. Behind it is a small two-story old house with three open spaces. The outer gable is supported by a piece of wood, like an elderly man leaning on a cane. He is nearly 300 years old and was built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. 🏠This was originally Zheng Shiyang's house, next to the Pingnan to Jian'ou Ancient Road. It was built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty and is 240 square meters. The house has a civil structure, rammed earth walls, horse head walls, and stone steps of the ancient road at the door. There is a stone staircase at the entrance to the door. The door is built with stone strips and ancient bricks on the left and right. Step over the threshold to enter the lower corridor of the house. There are two stone gullies in the lower corridor and two-story corridors on the left and right. Go up the steps to the main hall. There are wing rooms and kitchens on the left and right of the hall. There is a staircase on the left side of the hall to the second floor. There are wing rooms on both sides of the second floor hall. There are shrines inside to worship the ancestors of the family. ☕Now it has been converted into Xiadi Coffee House, which is managed and operated by a group of volunteers led by artists. It also appears as a supporting facility of Xiadi Senke B&B and a restaurant. Guests have breakfast here, and other tourists can also drink coffee and eat here. When it rains, watch the heavy rain fall from the patio, look at the scenery outside the window on the second floor, and there are also large and small private rooms for tourists to enjoy their own private space. 🎵The wall still has the appearance of the house before the renovation, as if it had been burned by fire. Now, there are photos of Teresa Teng on the wall, which looks warm and simple everywhere, full of nostalgia. 🍰Eating breakfast in the morning, smelling the smell of firewood coming out of the chimney, watching the smoke rising outside the window; in the evening, roasting fire and eating by the fireplace, the fire is burning red, and the warm feeling is a sense of happiness that electric heaters and air conditioners can't give. This is the most essential time in the countryside, when all tourists have left, the village has returned to its most original appearance, and you have become one of the villagers. Xiaoyi, the housekeeper of the Pingnan Xiadi B&B where we stayed, told us before dinner that we could go to the "Xiadi Coffee House" opposite to warm ourselves up after dinner. It was already late when we arrived in the village that day. 🔥When we got there, the flames leaped, and the cold night in the countryside became warmer. After a while, the deputy village chief also came, and he and Xiaoyi sat by the fireplace to warm themselves up.   🍞The next day, breakfast was also served here, and both here and Xiadi B&B were made by volunteers. 💡It was dark last night, and the stairs to the second floor creaked. Even if all the lights were turned on, it was still scary dim, after all, this house is more than 200 years old. Now I can finally see its true face.   📷There are many photos of Teresa Teng hanging on the wall. It seems that the owner is her fan. Although the small wooden house always feels a little unstable when walking on it, when I saw the photos hanging on the wall, I felt it was as solid as a rock. Those black houses that turn to gray when touched by fingers are the true portrayal of Xiadi Village before restoration. 🥟I chose a double seat with the best light and the most private place to sit down and eat the most abundant breakfast in the village, purple potato porridge, fried dumplings, steamed cakes, bread slices, fruit platter, soy milk, buns... every day is different. Looking out the window, smelling the smell of firewood coming out of the chimney. ❤We also had dinner here, which was very rich. Volunteer housekeeper Xiaoyi also gave us a free meal, which was duck meat they made themselves. Eating breakfast in the early morning and watching the curling smoke rising, and eating here by the fire in the evening, this is the most essential time of the village, when all tourists have retreated, the village has been restored to its most original appearance, and you have become one of the villagers.
