A guide to Meizhou Island in Fujian! Two days and one night here, this is a super enjoyable experience. After a trip to Meizhou Island, I put together a super practical guide, covering everything from how to get there to what to do and eat. Even a complete beginner can understand it; just follow the instructions. First, let's talk about how to get there. 1. From Putian Station to Wenjia Pier: After exiting Putian Station, follow the "Bus Transfer" signs. Go up to the second floor and take bus No. K09 or No. 363. You can also take the 13-yuan direct bus to Wenjia Pier, which is very convenient and arrives in about three minutes. 2. After arriving on the island, go to your B&B: After arriving on the island, follow the signs to the Gongxiasha parking lot. My B&B offered free shuttle service—from arrival to the B&B, and back to the pier after leaving the island. Generally, most B&Bs on the island offer this service. Just ask the owner when booking. Contact them in advance before leaving the island, and they'll make arrangements, eliminating the need for you to find it yourself. Recommended Visiting Time Two days and one night are perfect, allowing you to spend 24 hours on the island. This allows you to explore all the main attractions without feeling rushed, making it a relaxing experience. A few must-see spots to avoid pitfalls. 1. Morning worship at Mazu Temple: Experience the ritual. - Time: April 16th to October 15th, 6:36 AM - 7:06 AM; October 16th to April 15th, 7:06 AM - 7:36 AM. Both are held at Tianhou Temple. - Tip: If you're unsure how to worship, there's a pilgrimage map available on-site. Free incense sticks are available at each temple, or you can buy your own for 10 RMB. It's recommended to arrive early; the route takes about an hour to complete. Arrive late and you might miss a spot. 2. Ride an electric scooter around the island, enjoying the sea breeze and stunning views. Except for the Mazu worship, electric scooters are the most convenient way to travel around the island. Be sure to rent one! The suggested price is 60 RMB for 24 hours. When renting, ask clearly whether it's for "one day" or "24 hours"; don't get it wrong. The B&B owner can usually help you with the rental. - Recommended route: Start by going to Rainbow Road, then stop by Meiyu Chaoyin for photos (the latter section was closed for maintenance when I visited, but the rest of the road was also very photogenic). Then, cycle around Meizhou Avenue and visit Ewei Sea Erosion Park (a popular photo spot). Further up, stroll to Lianchi'ao Beach and enjoy the sea breeze before slowly cycling back to your B&B. - Bonus: If you want to go catching some seafood, just ask the B&B owner directly; they'll know the best spots, saving you the hassle of searching. - Tip: If possible, bring a drone. In good weather, aerial photography is incredibly beautiful, easily recreating cinematic quality. About food: Honestly, there aren't many specialties. Meizhou Island doesn't have any particularly amazing local specialties. There are stalls and markets around the Meizhou Farmers' Market where you can browse and buy some snacks. If you're craving seafood, I've been to Zhu Fugui in both Fuzhou and Putian. I truly think it's a must-try in Fujian. The food is delicious and substantial, and I highly recommend it. Finally, a few thoughts: Meizhou Island is primarily about enjoying the scenery and worshipping Mazu, perfect for relaxing and praying. There aren't any particularly "fun" attractions, as the Golden Beach is currently undergoing ecological restoration and is closed. But just enjoying the sea breeze, strolling along the road, watching the sunrise and sunset, and taking photos on the island is incredibly relaxing. If you're looking to unwind, this is the place for you. Which of you would you rather worship Mazu first when visiting Meizhou Island, or ride an electric bike around the island to admire the sea? Let's discuss in the comments! Meizhou Island Guide #FujianTravel #MeizhouIslandTwoDayTour #MazuCulture #IslandTravel #ElectricBikeRoundTheIsland #WeekendDestination #UncommonIslands
