This trip to Leshan was specifically to see the Leshan Giant Buddha, but I unexpectedly had a unique stay at the Jinjiang Jiaozhou Hotel! This understated, long-established state guesthouse perfectly embodies the elegance and sophistication of "old-money style." The view of the Leshan Giant Buddha across the river from the window is absolutely stunning! 🌊 The location of the state guesthouse is truly exceptional. While not as close to the Buddha as some other hotels in the scenic area, staying at the Jiaozhou Hotel at No. 85 Baita Street offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. Every morning, drawing back the curtains reveals the shimmering surface of the Dadu River, and to the right, you can see the entire Leshan Giant Buddha; with luck, even the outline of the reclining Buddha is clearly visible! The 13th-floor restaurant thoughtfully provides telescopes, allowing you to see even the details of the Buddha clearly. 🏨 An elegant experience that transcends time. Stepping into the lobby, you can feel the strong sense of history (after all, it's a state guesthouse built in the 1950s or 60s), but it doesn't feel old-fashioned at all. The marble floors and walls in the room were exceptionally well-maintained. Our river-view room was incredibly spacious, and the modern bathroom with its separate wet and dry areas was delightful. The bedding and toiletries were of a quality comparable to a five-star hotel. I especially loved sitting by the window at night, watching the lights twinkle across the river – it felt like stepping into a romantic old movie. 🍽️ A Culinary Feast in the Clouds The "Cloud Restaurant" on the 13th floor was a delightful surprise! The breakfast selection was incredibly diverse, including Leshan specialties like tofu pudding and pork rib noodles. The view was simply amazing – enjoying breakfast while witnessing the spectacular confluence of three rivers is an experience hard to find elsewhere. The waitresses were also incredibly welcoming and proactively recommended seasonal specialties. 🚗 Nearby Food and Shopping Guide • A 10-minute walk will take you to Leshan's busiest food street, where you can try must-try dishes like braised beef and sweet-skinned duck. • In the evening, stroll along the river to the old town and experience Leshan's unique local atmosphere. • A 15-minute taxi ride to the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area is recommended; avoid peak hours for a more comfortable experience. 💡 Check-in Tips 1️⃣ Book a river-view room in advance for better views from higher floors. 2️⃣ Window seats in the 13th-floor restaurant are in high demand, so arrive early. 3️⃣ Free parking and charging stations at the hotel make it convenient for those traveling by car. 4️⃣ Bring a telephoto lens if you want to capture a panoramic view of the Giant Buddha. My biggest takeaway from staying at the Jiaozhou Hotel is that you don't necessarily need to stay within the scenic area to see the Giant Buddha. Sometimes, maintaining a distance allows for a more complete view and a more comfortable experience.
