At present, due to the ecological and environmental protection, Sanbanxi Reservoir has not been developed on a large scale. Only fishing leisure areas have been developed in some areas. The largest of them is Sanbanxi Ecological Fishing Village, which is located near Sanbanxi Wharf. The long floating bridge goes deep into the lake. The fishing village is built on the floating island. The fish are raised under the building and can be caught at any time to make delicacies and serve on the table. The more recommended one is sour soup fish. After all, this place still belongs to the territory of the Dong people in Southeast Guizhou. Sour soup fish is indeed a local specialty. But you have to find the right time. Don't go during the dry season of the reservoir. When I went there, it was May Day and the water surface had shrunk severely. The lake surface may be only one-third of that in the flood season. The magnificence and beauty are incomparable. According to local boatmen, September and October are the best time to visit the Sanbanxi Reservoir. Firstly, it is just after the summer flood season and the water level is high. Secondly, it has just entered the dry season and the water inflow from upstream has decreased. The color of the lake water will appear emerald green, instead of the rolling yellow water in the flood season.
