🏡 Choose the right accommodation and avoid unnecessary hassles! Choose from two styles. - Staying at the foot of the mountain: Qiyun Mountain Town is super convenient! It's right next to the scenic area entrance, so you can enjoy snacks at the night market in the evening. No need to carry your kids up the mountain with luggage. There are plenty of affordable restaurants nearby. My kids always go to town before bed. - Staying at the mountain: Yuehua Street B&B is a surprise! Opening the window in the morning, you can see a sea of clouds. It's like living in the clouds. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing. It's a bit pricey, but if you have the budget, you must try it. My kids said, "Mom, I feel like I'm in a fairyland." 🚗 Transportation is super easy! Take your kids with you! - High-speed Rail: Take the high-speed rail to Huangshan North Station, then take a taxi directly from the station to the scenic area, which takes about 30 minutes. The fare is about 50 yuan, making it super convenient without having to transfer, and your kids can even catch up on some sleep in the car. - Driving: Just search for "Qiyun Mountain Scenic Area" on your navigation. There are plenty of parking lots along the way, and the scenery is stunning. Stop for photos and your kids can get some fresh air. - Within the scenic area: We highly recommend taking the cable car up the mountain! You'll have to walk all the way to the top, so wear comfortable sneakers, or they'll get tired after just a few steps. My kids walked the entire way, saving energy thanks to the cable car. 🗺️ 2-Day Family Itinerary! Explore the best of the area without taking any detours. Day 1: Wonderland Check-in, Have Fun in the Mountains and Waters 1. Take the cable car up the mountain, and be amazed by the sea of clouds as soon as you exit! The kids kept shouting, "It's so cloudy!" ~☁️ 2. Visit Wangxiantai and Mengzhen Bridge. The scenery along the way is like an ink painting, and every photo is beautiful. The kids picked up fallen leaves as souvenirs as they walked. 3. Visit Zhenxian Cave to see the cliff carvings—there are 487 of them! Take a photo of the four characters "天开神秀" (Heaven Opens Divine Show) and tell your child the story of ancient inscriptions. 4. At noon, enjoy local cuisine on Yuehua Street. After a quick rest, your child can play with the B&B owner's cat for a while. 5. In the afternoon, visit Yuxu Palace and walk the Xiaohutian Suspension Plank Road. It's a little thrilling, but super safe. Your child had a blast holding onto the railings. 6. In the evening, watch the sunset at Wulao Peak. Watching the sun slowly set behind the mountain, your child said, "It's even more beautiful than a cartoon!" Afterward, take the cable car down the mountain, which was super relaxing. Day 2: Cultural Slow Tour - Fun and Learning 1. Have breakfast in the ancient town at the foot of the mountain. I recommend the soy milk and Huizhou sesame cakes. Your child loves them one by one. 2. Visit Dengfeng Bridge! The ancient bridge from the Qing Dynasty is so charming. It's perfect for taking pictures with kids in this ancient style. Light-colored clothing makes it even more stunning. 3. We went to the Qiyun Mountain Forest of Steles to see various historical relics. I pointed out the characters on them to my kids, and they even learned a few Chinese characters without realizing it. 4. We spent the afternoon at the Freedom Family Campground! The tree house and zipline were so fun. My kids had a blast playing there all afternoon and didn't want to leave. 5. Before we headed back, we had a bowl of Mao Toufu—a local specialty you absolutely have to try. My kids were initially hesitant, but after one bite, they said, "It's quite fragrant." 🍲 A must-try for families! Delicious and guaranteed! - Lingshan Fermented Rice Wine: Cool and refreshing with a sweet osmanthus scent. The kids were all clamoring for a sip after the hike; the sweetness was just right. - Qiyunshan Dried Tofu: Super flavorful and chewy, perfect as a snack for kids—much healthier than potato chips. - Huizhou Small Shaobing: Crispy enough to fall apart, with a delicious pickled mustard greens and meat filling. Ten yuan gets you a big bag, making it super convenient for kids to eat on the go. 🌃 Nighttime tour down the mountain! Amazing atmosphere. - "Light and Shadow Qiyun" performance: Starts promptly at 7:30 PM! Taoist stories are performed by real people amidst the natural beauty of the mountains and rivers. Take a photo with your child for a memorable experience! - Ancient Town Night Market: Enjoy sugar painting, shadow puppetry, and even a local aunt singing Huizhou folk songs. It's as lively as Chinese New Year, and my child had so much fun here that he didn't want to go back to the hotel! 📖 Learn while you play! Super easy knowledge-building! - A little secret about Mount Qiyun's name: It's not that the clouds literally reach the sky! It's that "a single stone pierces the sky, reaching straight into the clouds" at the top. Emperor Qianlong even inscribed it as "unparalleled in the world." Amazing! - The Legend of Zhang Sanfeng: The Ming Dynasty Taoist master Zhang Sanfeng ascended to heaven here! There's a stone turtle in front of Yuxu Palace. Touch it to inhale the immortal aura. I took my child to touch it several times, and she said, "I'm going to become powerful!" 💫 A little surprise! Encountering "Fairy Friends" We encountered free-range cranes at a mountaintop Taoist temple! The Taoist priest explained that they "go to work" every day to greet visitors. Their snow-white feathers are stunning. Seeing a crane up close for the first time, my child clapped his hands in excitement. #JiangsuZhejiangShanghaiParent-ChildTravel #TravelWithChild #QiyunMount
A day trip to Chengkan in Southern Anhui is here! I missed the fish lantern show because of tire repair, but after unloading my luggage, I was happy to go out for a stroll! Huangshan Qiuxia Farmhouse The owner of the B&B where we stayed that night was very welcoming. If you drive to the parking lot, he will pick you up. The four of us stayed in a family room, which had two large suites! It was so nice to sit in the small courtyard and enjoy the breeze at night! Huangshan Chengkan·Ninety-Nine Lanes Inn The next day, I went out in search of breakfast, stopping and starting along the way. The bluestone pavement, dried by the sun, shone brightly in the sunlight, and the white walls and black tiles shone brightly. Looking up, I saw the courtyard of "Four Waters Returning to the Hall." The sun shone directly down, illuminating the patterns on the wood carvings. Following the navigation, I meandered through the alleys and in the morning, I stopped by Niangchuntang Lingshan Jiuniu. The bamboo shoot noodles, Jiuniu, and wontons were all excellent! The ice cream and lemon tea were also delicious! Tips: Although I didn't see it, everyone should pay attention to the time! The fish lantern show should be held until dusk, around 6:00 PM! The same goes for the fireworks! (💡 They usually end around 7:00 PM!) Be sure to secure a good spot in advance! 🪔Villagers set out from the ancestral hall, holding colorful fish lanterns. The lanterns danced through the ancient alleys, the flickering candlelight reflected on the mottled walls, and the sound of gongs and drums mingled with the laughter of children, instantly filling the ancient village with a lively atmosphere!
