Wu Ji Fried Buns 📍 No. 154 Zhongshan Middle Road A hole-in-the-wall restaurant, mainly selling them for 3.5 yuan each. They're quite large, fried until golden brown and crispy on both sides, and filled with a generous amount of sweet scallion and pork filling. 1. One batch takes over ten minutes to fry, so it's often in short supply. Eat it while it's hot; it's definitely worth the trip! 2. Subway Milk Tea 📍 No. 341, Zhongshan Middle Road Right next to Wu Ji Fried Buns, opposite Fuding No. 1 Middle School. Usually frequented by students. Very affordable. The owner recommended a "Prodigal Son Returns" drink, which tasted like the almost lost milk tea made with creamer powder from my childhood. Online reviews say the taro milk tea is also very good. 3. Huang Shengxiang Herbal Tea 📍 No. 235 Zhongshan Middle Road (near Gucheng West Road) Next to the beef shop in Beishichang, recommended by the beef shop owner. They'll indicate whether it's bitter or not. For casual drinking, I suggest the sweet herbal tea. For those curious, try the "Wet Tea" or their signature herbal tea – it's so bitter you'll cry for your mom! But it comes with rock sugar and dried tangerine peel to balance the bitterness!
