The Chase Cafe

The only restaurant in Flinders Park, Kangaroo Island Tasmania is the largest island in Australia, followed by Melville Island, and Kangaroo Island ranks third. It is located at the entrance of the Gulf St. Vincent in the Bass Strait. Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula is the closest to the mainland, only 13 kilometers away. The history of South Australia began on Kangaroo Island. In 1802, British explorer Matthew Flinders landed near the Dudley Peninsula on the north shore of Kangaroo Island and named the island "Kanguroo (sic) Island". South Australia was established in 1836, but there were already settlements on Kangaroo Island in the 1820s. The plane arrived at Kingscote Airport in the northeast of Kangaroo Island half an hour later, and then drove an hour to Flinders Chase National Park in the southwest. There is only one restaurant, The Chase Cafe, in the caravan camp near the park to solve the lunch problem. There are not many options for food in the restaurant, but the burgers taste quite good. There is a small exhibition hall next to the restaurant, which displays specimens of various Australian marsupials. The tour guide in the picture above is holding a kangaroo's pouch, with the nipple hidden in the strap. Kangaroo Island receives more than 140,000 tourists every year and is one of the most famous tourist areas in South Australia. A quarter of the island's area is designated as national parks and reserves. The Hanson Bay Wildlife Reserve in the national park is the place with the most wild koalas on Kangaroo Island. In the tree at the entrance of the restaurant, there are many wild koalas holding sloths and staying lazily. Some are with their children, and some children don't know what they are doing. They are holding their heads up and looking at the world with their fourth eyes. It's so funny. The visitor center of the reserve provides catering and accommodation. Hanson Bay Cabins has one-bedroom and two-bedroom villas with 360-degree unbeatable sea views. It is one of the best accommodations on the island; there is also the Southern Ocean Lodge, one of Australia's most luxurious hotels, at the southernmost end of Hanson Bay, 10 kilometers away from the reserve.
