I stayed here for a business trip. The staff at the entrance were incredibly polite and left a great impression. The lady at the front desk was also very thorough during check-in. The room itself was spotless, from the amenities to the bed, sofa, desk, and even the view. While the building isn't brand new, you can really feel the thoughtful hospitality extended to guests. Plus, having direct access to Junction City shopping mall with a supermarket made souvenir shopping incredibly convenient. There were also plenty of affordable and high-quality foot massage places just a 5-minute walk away. I had a really comfortable stay during my business trip and would definitely use this hotel again for future business travel.
One of the better places to stay in Yangon. The rooftop pool and resto is very nice. The area is more upscale, walking distance to a small mall and supermarket. There's some shops nearby and a few restos. The rooms are spacious for Yangon and clean with good AC and wifi.
Conveniently located near the airport, this is one of Myanmar's most luxurious hotels, situated right by the lake, which is lovely. The breakfast spread is generous, and the 'shaomai' (dumplings) are particularly delicious. They often host various events, and the lakeside bar has a great atmosphere.

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was clean, and the location is good. But most important is the staff. All of them are so friendly and always ready to help you. Always smiling. I would like to mention Vanessa, Lucas, Thomas, and Chef Concierge Moo Thaw for their excellent service. I wish all of them a great future in their career. Thank you. đ

The Strand is a find, old hotel which, for the most part, has been tastefully refurbished. Some shortcomings: the staff appear very young, inexperienced and with poor English, resulting in the wrong response to requests - half an hour to get cornflakes for breakfast; the lighting in the suite was poor, with several lamps but few overhead lights, making it impossible to read in bed; the bathroom shower had little water pressure and was difficult to use; we couldn't use the bath as there was no plug; three telephones in the suite but two not working, so the only usable phone was in the toilet cubicle - not the best spot for conversation; requests to resolve the problem went unanswered. Checking out, the management showed no interest in listening to customer feedback. Someone needs to wake up and smell the coffee..

Hotel is comfortable and clean. Location is close to the downtown but thereâs not much in terms of food nearby. The hotel food was good and the staff are friendly and responsive. Hotel felt empty.
I commend all staff for your excellent service and attention to detail. You maintain the high standards of Myanmar hospitality, and I thank you all.
In particular, I really loved the view of Shwedagon Pagoda from my room. You have an excellent location as well, and the breakfast is hearty and satisfying.
I would like to especially thank the following staff:
Thinn Zar and Harry â thank you for attending to me and accommodating my late dinner request
Thet Aung Linn â I really appreciated his service as a trainee, and I note his potential. I was very impressed with his fluency in Chinese, which is a great asset
The cleaning staff were also dedicated and always conscientious

The Thanlwin meets all expectations. The staff is excellent and caters to every need. There's a Chinese restaurant (very good!), a Western restaurant (very good!), a rooftop pool, and a spa/massage area (very good but a bit pricey!). The prices are reasonable for the hotel's standard, though naturally a bit higher than other hotels. However, the quality is excellent. The food was exemplary, and the massages were extremely good, even if you could get them for half the price in Thailand.
The cleanliness of the rooms is exemplary. The room amenities and size can only be described as sensational. I had a bathroom with a corner window and could see the pagoda from one of the top floors. Wonderful.
The air conditioning is excellent, and the water pressure in the bathroom is perfect.
Review: The Governorâs Residence, Yangon
The Governorâs Residence remains one of Yangonâs most atmospheric and elegant hotels, combining colonial charm with modern comfort. Nestled in a quiet embassy district, the restored teak mansion, once the home of a British colonial governor, immediately impresses with its graceful architecture and tranquil gardens. Approaching through leafy pathways and lotus ponds, guests are welcomed into an oasis that feels far removed from the bustle of downtown Yangon.
Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the buildingâs heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements.
Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era.
What sets the Governorâs Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangonâs colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. For those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and authentic Burmese hospitality, this residence is an exceptional choice.
The environment is great, right by the lake with fresh air, and all the facilities are well-equipped. The service is also very good, and the hygiene is excellent. The facilities might be a bit outdated due to the hotel's age, but overall, I'm very satisfied and will definitely stay here again next time.

PPomPom0It was a great stay. Staffs are polite and helpful. A male receptionist and a woman Housekeeping attendant at 16th floor were particularly helpful during my stay. The Pool is beautiful and I was actually amazed that they built a very deep pool for a hotel (1.9 m). My feet barely touched the pool ground, but they did have the fitness trainer who watched out for the deep pool. The room is okay, but I feel like itâs a bit small. Donât get me wrong, they already are among the widest rooms in Yangon, yet the room I got had very tight entrance. The bathroom is separated with toilet and shower and bathtub. TV is rather small, I expected to have a more updated smart TV in this kind of hotel.
The only thing I wasnât satisfied was Breakfast. Yes, they did have variety of selections but the tastes were blend and honestly, I didnât like their food menus.
Overall, it was pretty decent memory to stay at Melia.

ZZmeyerOld luxury hotel - resort style big pool, great breakfast, spacious rooms. They have to renovate it, but it still very nice.
Ah, by the way. Its hard to find some restaurants nearby - be prepared for taxi for any case. But they have 24h convenient store on first floor.
And - its very strange for the hotel of this level - there was a situation with exec lounge. It was in my booking but they refuse to give me access: âIt was an error in room descriptionâ. Guys, its really not my trouble, right? I wasnt in the mood for hard negotiations, so... let carma decide ))) And they have no local shuttle bus (yes, there is an error on hotel site). Heh )))
KKSSKLocation of the property is opposite to Myanmar Plaza shopping mall. It would be great if the size gate of the property could open for guests to walk a shorter distance to the mall.
Service staffs were very friendly, especially Lenna who was very efficient during the check-out process and responded professionally to queries.
Breakfast at DâCusine was average needs improvement. There is also a Japanese Restaurant and a Korean restaurant for dining within the property.
Swimming pool is excellent especially for family with kids.
Club at basement played good music. Take note of age group and dress code requirements.
Overall highly satisfied with the stay at this property.

GGuest UserThe room was clean and the view was great, and the breakfast was satisfying.
The water pressure in the shower was also excellent.
The location is a little far from the city center, but I think it is very reasonable.
I would like to stay here again if I have the opportunity to come to Yangon.
The only downside was that it took a long time to check out.
