Ji Hotel (Kunming Cuihu Renmin Middle Road)
4.8/54226 Reviews
Cuihu District
Overall, I like this hotel chain in general and would stay there again, both at this location and in other cities. This was not the first location for this chain that I have stayed at. Location: The hotel is located in a fairly central location. It is very close to Green Lake, though you'll need a map in order to know that. It's across the street from a KFC, 711, and Starbucks, and around the corner from a Burger King. There are also quite a few shared bikes (both electric and not) available from several different companies in front of the hotel. Amenities: Breakfast is available for an additional charge, and there is a laundry room. I used neither of these. The hotel room has a refrigerator and more than the standard two bottles of drinking water plus an electric kettle, tea set, two packets of tea, and some candy in a dish (that looked like it had been there for a very long time). This hotel chain is generally very good about giving you more water if you ask. The bed is very comfortable, the tv is huge, the shower is hot with good water pressure, and the room is clean overall. There were ink stains on the sofa, but no problems with the bedding. Some of the furniture/walls were starting to be in need of repair, but it's not a problem unless you're super picky. Safety/Service: The front desk staff are always very nice and helpful and willing to answer any questions that you have, but you'll need to speak Mandarin or have a translator handy. English is limited or non-existent. I felt safe in my room, and I didn't worry about leaving things in my room that I generally keep on my person in other hotels. The maid was also very kind and helped me when I saw her in the hallway and asked for help with a small problem (that was totally just my ignorance and too embarrassing to mention!). WIFI: Wifi is available, but there is no information about the network or password in the room that I could find. I went down to the front desk and the woman there put the password on my phone for me. Quiet: Well, there were some very loud and very rude guests staying in rooms near me. I don't know what the hotel's response would have been as I didn't all the front desk to complain. It definitely could have been quieter. There was no noise from outside the hotel, though. Problems: I stayed at this hotel three nights total but two times (one night at the beginning and two nights at the end of my trip). My second room at this hotel (when I stayed for two nights), there was a blinking light inside a grate in the ceiling that can only be seen when all the lights are out. It was really bothering me, and making it difficult for me to sleep. I called the front desk at approx. 12:30 in the morning, and they didn't quite understand my problem (completely due to my sub-par Mandarin), but they sent someone to take a look. The maintenance guy who came said he knew exactly what I was talking about once I pointed upward. He didn't need me to turn off the light and show him. He said there was nothing he could do. If they turned out that light, I would have no electricity in the room. He also said that it's like that in every room. I didn't remember seeing it in the first room I had stayed in at the beginning of my trip, and I also didn't remember it from when I had stayed for three nights at a different location. Whether it really exists in every room or not is here nor there, though it ought to be obvious that a blinking light that doesn't turn off when you turn all the lights off is a bad idea, and something ought to be done). It is possible that it exists in every room but that it's not visible from the bed in every room due to the placement of that grate.
Aini Garden

When I started planning our itinerary for our 15 day Yunnan holiday, I plotted out our path to go all the way up to Shangri-la, back down to Kunming and then to Jiaozi Snow Mountain and Dongchuan Red Land. Then I chanced upon a video of Aini Garden and fell in love! The only reason we came to Pu'er was to get to Aini. This was the first place I booked, and I really took a chance because it has a no cancellation policy and I really had to stick to the date once it was made. The initial pre-arrival experience was less than pleasant. I didn't know how we were going to get to the manor and my WeChat messages went unanswered. The hotel we stayed at in Pu'er finally got in touch with someone and got them to message me. I asked how we could get there and the answer was a curt ”take a taxi or charter a car”. No pleasantries of ”we look forward to seeing you” or offering to arrange a car. When we arrived, no one was at reception and no one came out. Our driver was so perplexed he wondered if we were in the right place and if the place was open. Finally a young girl came out and registered us in. There was an air of aloofness from everyone else. However, once we were checked in, things warmed up quickly. We were offered coffee and freshly cut papaya and had a nice introduction chat with the lady staff. The bedroom and bathroom is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony if the chairs were more comfortable. I love the floor to ceiling glass windows but the panel above the door should also be glass (it is just netting) so traffic sounds from the road actually comes through at night. I actually wanted to book the cottage in the hills but opted for the standard room in the main house because I was worried it would be cold. Big regret as it is actually magnificently located with stunning views. However take note that you will need to call for a buggy ride or make a 1km hike every time you want to eat or get to the main house. If you are self driving, no issues as you can park right next to the cottage. Anyway it's a small price to pay for an unlimited view of the milky way and seclusion. This is as close to a Ryokan experience as you can get in China, minus the hot springs. 3 days 2 nights of blissful, carefree living is not quite enough. They make sure they feed you well, with the freshest produce available for hotpot dinner and home-cooked Yunnanese dishes for lunch. There are so many activities organised, from taking you up the mountain for a glimpse of sunrise (with mountain goats for company ❤️) to coffee plantation education tour to horseback riding along the mountain ridges (the view is spectacular!) to scavenging for wild vegetables and fruits to drinking, dancing and singing around the campfire! So much to do, so little time! One area of improvement I personally would like to see is the coffee serving. They tend to be quite snobbish about how their coffee is taken. Neat, with nothing else. Asking for sugar or milk feels nearly scorned upon. Coffee is a versatile drink and can be savoured in a huge variety of ways. How else is Starbucks so successful? I felt kind of stifled and deprived because I love a good latte and had looked forward to enjoying an unlimited indulgence of coffee throughout our stay. Anyhow, I love the ecotourism efforts here. It feels natural and unpretentious. I love the people and the camaraderie they cultivate. I especially enjoyed talking to their consultant 敬梅, a beautiful lady with extensive knowledge in Yunnan culture and ecological progress. Also thank you to 徐芳 for arranging transport back to town and giving helpful recommendations. We hope to return again.
Xishuangbanna Xiyu Hotel (Gaozhuang Xingguang Night Market Branch)

Gaozhuang/Starlight Night Market
There is free pick-up from the airport, and there is a shuttle bus for visiting Gaozhuang. It is very convenient and the service is very good. There is also a swimming pool on the roof, and the environment is very good, especially the night view. The breakfast is generally good, with quite a lot of variety. I really like their rice noodles. The laundry room is a bit run down, so if there's nothing special about it, try not to use it.
Lijiang Ancient City Yuezhuxuan Light Luxury Holiday Home

The Old Town of Lijiang
Booked 2 rooms here so this is a duplicate of my other review —- Very good service and hospitality! Liaised with the owners via WeChat and they warmly welcomed us and picked us from the car park, so we did not have to drag our luggages on the cobbled streets. It was a very short 2 minute walk to the hotel from the car park, and the hotel was at a good location to explore the other sights in Lijiang old town as well. You can enjoy tea with the owners and the stay also came with a good, hearty breakfast. There was also a nice patio Rooms were clean. Really enjoyed my stay :) Would recommend!
Deqin Guyu Huating Inn

Environment: We stayed in Xiayubeng on the first day. The room was not clean, so we immediately moved to Guyu Flower Court. The first impression after checking in was that the room was clean and tidy. The four cute kittens made us love them. What was even more surprising was that we could see Meili Snow Mountain at the door of the room. Service: The owner and staff of the inn were very enthusiastic. The cooking skills of the cooking aunt were relatively light, which was suitable for travelers with light tastes. The next day, the owner took us to Nisese to pick mushrooms and tasted mushrooms together in the evening. In addition, we met interesting friends from all over the world. This stay gave us more beautiful moments in our Yubeng trip.

Fairyland Hotel (Kunming Nanping Pedestrian Street Baida)

Nanping Pedestrian Street
The front desk upgraded the room, and the sanitation is pretty good. The main reason is that it is located in the city center, making it easy to visit various attractions in Kunming. The only drawback is that I was placed in a room at the end of the corridor. At night, I kept all the ghost movies I had watched in my mind. Been there again

Pullman Xishuangbanna Resort

Sunac Resort Xishuangbanna
Great location with lots of food options in the neighborhood a short drive away or a bike ride away. The resort area comprises of Pullman, crowne plaza and Wanda. So if u prefer to eat in one of these hotels that’s an option but much more pocket friendly options in the area too outside of this hotel area but close by. Rooms are comfortable. An outdoor and indoor pool are available but the indoor one water is too cold and needs to be regulated. The steam and sauna are not always on so if u are the first one to use like in my case then u have to wait till it heats up and gets fully operational. Steam worked great but sauna not so good. Jacuzzi was busted and non-operational. Don’t forget to get ur swimming caps as even though outdoor pool one is not required but if it rains u must go to the indoor one as per hotel rules and for indoor u need a cap and to buy one at site is very expensive. The check in desk person Jacky Chen was very nice and helpful. Smooth check in process. Eva he at the breakfast buffet was also very kind and friendly and all the staff generally were good. However the staff at the front entrance gate need to be trained better to talk to customers like they normally should to customers but I felt they were very rude although it was not there intention to be rude. They just need better training. Parking is not allowed around the entrance circle but many people are allowed to park and is not consistent. If they allow one car to park then they should allow all. Local cars should not get preference. Even the help staff at the breakfast should be trained a little more to serve customers as it was quite chaotic. Overall a pleasant stay but some improvements required as highlighted above.

Black Dragon Pond
Hello everyone, Who is looking for information about this place. I hope it will be helpful for everyone who reads it. I am a tourist from Thailand and I had the opportunity to stay here from July 16, 2023 to July 19, 2023. I was very impressed with the overall experience. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of all the major attractions. The rooms are decorated in traditional Naxi style, clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. I had many questions and concerns during my stay and the staff was always happy to answer my questions and help me out. The hotel also has a number of amenities, including a free breakfast buffet, a rooftop terrace with stunning views of the city, and free fruit, tea, and snacks. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Lijiang. It is the perfect place to experience the Naxi culture and the long history of the old town of Lijiang. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a number of amenities that will make your holiday a great one. Here are some additional details about my stay: The hotel is located near the water truck of Lijiang Old Town with long history. It combines and continues the style of Naxi independent courtyard Courtyard. Well-known scenic spots in the old town: Bar Street, Sifang Street, Mufu, Black Dragon Lake and so on are close by. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they mainly speak Chinese. For foreign tourists, don't worry. You can use Google Translate to communicate with them. They are happy and willing to help you at any time. The hotel is equipped with independent WiFi, convenient transportation, you can get on the bus, kung fu tea room, classic breakfast, 24 hours front desk, safe and convenient. In addition, the hotel can also provide airport and Lijiang railway station pick-up for guests (please consult the business for details) to ensure that you have a carefree trip to Lijiang. Overall, I had a wonderful stay at Lijiang Ancient City, Bolin · Damei Huasu Resort and Homestay (Big Waterwheel Store), and I would definitely recommend it to others. Finally, I would like to add that the hotel is very affordable, especially considering the quality of the facilities and the location. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great value for their money in Lijiang. Thanks for reading,
