This Inn is managed by a family that is very nice. Once you arrive from the train station (Pingyaogucheng) with a taxi, they come to pick you up to the Inn (2 min) because the taxi isn't allowed inside the ancient city. They offer to drive you one way to or from the train station (it's free). I was in a room with a traditional atmosphere (with a kang bed having a mattress a little harder than others).

The location is very convenient, next to Parkson Mall. 10 minutes away from the ancient city. The room is very clean, very hygienic, relatively safe, and well-equipped, with a small refrigerator and disposable bath towels. The whole decoration is more artistic. The lobby is a coffee shop. The service attitude at the front desk is very good. The boss is very gentle. Any problems will be solved in time. Next time I come to Datong, I will look for Dadan! ! !

We spent two wonderful nights at Yungang Hotel in Datong. First of all, our deepest gratitude to Yang wen yuan - 杨文元. When booking from Europe, we did not realise correctly the time required to get to the caves and to the hanging monastery (a must view when in Datong). We thought that by using public transport we could manage to do both in a short period of time. So wrong! We arrived and Yang wen yuan - 杨文元 reassured us and in less than 30 minutes he was able to help and book for us a private car for the next day. He made our stay unforgettable. Thanks a lot from both of us if you are reading ! Plus, this hotel is wonderful : super new, technological and the staff is super kind (from the ones in the lobby to the ones in the restaurant/cafeteria). Breakfast is amazing. You can have everything, freshly made for you.

It is the place where I could dive myself into the historical atmosphere, peaceful and gorgeous. They decorate the room with classic furniture which can bring people back to the the past dynasty. I stayed here only one days but I'm sure I will be back. I'm really impressed by their hospitality and service. It's like I'm in my own home. Highly recommended!

Very good experience with hotel. Room was comfortable and the bathroom design is good. Reception staff was very helpful and provided good advice of Datong's tourist attractions. Hotel provided refreshment in the evening which was an excellent way to differentiate itself from the competition. Tried their chicken during early lunch and it was really tasty. Also, the staff kindly allowed me to play their Yamaha piano at the lobby. I would recommend this hotel to people visiting Datong.

Amazing location, right next to taiyuan south rail station. But it is far from town. It is great if you are just catching the fast train. Service is fine but nothing extraordinary. It is very clean. Spread at breakfast is decent but no coffee. If you need coffee, don't come here

Shanxi Hotel must be given a five-star rating. We arrived very late at night, and the hotel was already lit. The courtyard was ancient and the hotel lobby was magnificent. This is the best and value for money hotel I stayed in last 12 days trip from Beijing, Datong, Taiyuan, Pingyao, Xian. The room is nice, breakfast is good, hotel room even provide you with a washing machine in tge room with detergent free. Highly recommended and great for longer stay. Cheers

It was a very satisfying stay. The service is excellent, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Their breakfast buffet is diverse and plentiful. The location is perfect for all the city sights. I'd definitely stay there again.

When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

I stayed here only one days but I'm sure I will be back. I'm really impressed by their hospitality and service. It's like I'm in my own home. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed the traditional mat style bed. The hotel is a short walk away from the bustling Main Street. It was very convenient to walk to most attractions inside the walled City. The hotel owner also arranged free transport to take me to the high speed rail station. The service was wonderful. No complaints! If you’re staying here, I recommend checking out not just the ancient walled city but also the ancient temples in the area. I would stay here again without hesitation.

This hotel was really great and perfect for us. We loved its location, the breakfast and the comfortable and spacious room. It's walking distance from everything to see in Pingyao and they have free transfer to the airport which was a plus as we arrived in the city at night. The young woman at the reception and the Ayi (the aunt who takes care of breakfast and cleaning) are people with a heart of gold who will do everything to enhance your stay. You have the choice of Western or Chinese breakfast, personally I enjoyed the Chinese breakfast which is typical of the region. I recommend this hotel 100%!
