Great hotel with a decent location in the middle of the Lake District. You can walk/ cycle to Ambleside which is 5 miles away. Low fells are easy to hike for great views of the area around. The hotel is more like a private house with rooms. We got a small suite with bedroom, bathroom and living room. We could just about see the lake from the living room. The bathroom only has a bath and no shower head which was a difficulty for washing hair. Except for that it was very well organised. Breakfast was at a nearby pub - The Good Sport. It was a limited selection on the menu: full English, breakfast rolls, toast or porridge. You also got a 10% for dinner in the pub too.

Was really happy with everything here from start to finish and it was very price-friendly: the only two points to mention were that the shower box had run out of shampoo and the checkout was 10am rather than the 11am specified on here. 5 stars everything else.

The room is small, but very comfortable, a typical British country house. The location of the hotel is relatively biased, suitable for people who like quietness. Walk to the pier by Windermere Lake for about 20 minutes. Lunch and dinner can go to the nearby Tower Bank Arms
