Mitsui Garden Hotel Yokohama Minatomirai Premier
4.8/5652 Reviews
Yokohama City Centre
During my recent trip to Tokyo, I stayed three nights at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Yokohama Minatomirai Premier, and it was fantastic! The sea view was breathtaking, and the attention to detail made my stay incredibly comfortable. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows that brought in stunning views—whether it was the ocean by day or the city lights at night, I could never get enough! The hotel’s amenities were a delight. I loved the rooftop pool and the indoor gym, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The Italian restaurant and bar offered delicious food, and I highly recommend the breakfast. The location was also convenient, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. The modern design, inspired by Yokohama’s cruise culture, added a unique touch to my stay. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I felt I truly got my money's worth!
Hotel Wing International Shonan Fujisawa
4.5/5179 Reviews
Great location since I couldn’t book a room of reasonable price in Kamakura, I think staying in Fujisawa was much better because its more local and still convenient to reach all the essential tourist spots. Room was a bit small for my large luggage but for this price I wouldn’t ask for more. Free breakfast provides several types of bread and coffee.

Nestled along the serene shores of Manazuru Port, this quaint Japanese-style inn exudes warmth and tradition at every turn. Run by a charming old lady whose hospitality transcends generations, the inn offers a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural tapestry. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a sense of tranquility. The tatami-matted rooms, though old, are meticulously clean, each carrying a tale of bygone eras. The gentle aroma of freshly brewed tea wafts through the air, inviting you to unwind and savor the moment. What truly sets this inn apart is its breathtaking view of Manazuru Port and the expansive sea beyond. Whether you're enjoying a traditional Japanese breakfast or simply basking in the afternoon sun on the veranda, the vista never fails to mesmerize. The rhythmic dance of fishing boats against the backdrop of rolling waves is a sight to behold. But it's the innkeeper's unwavering dedication to her guests that leaves the most lasting impression. With a genuine smile and a kind word, she ensures that every visitor feels like family. Her attention to detail and personalized care elevate the stay from ordinary to extraordinary. For those seeking solace in the embrace of Japan's timeless charm, this hidden gem on the shores of Manazuru is a haven like no other. Nice historical Ryokan, hospitality is their highlight. Very nice food. Spent some time in their private onsen, it was great. One of the surprise is the Zen room, relaxing environment and I slept on the massage chair simply because it’s too comfortable. Nice experience overall!

I would have given a 5 star rating for service but got a very bad experience with this one staff call Yashiro (she wasn’t wearing a name tag but told us this name after we asked a few times for her name). We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights, for 6 people. On the second evening when we return to the rooms, we found out that our room wasn’t cleaned. Later found out that we need to put the magnet tag outside of the door if we need cleaning. Which is fine and we were not complaining about this. But we needed new towels. We called the reception separately and got hanged up! The receptionist said a bunch of “maybe” English or mixed with Japanese, then hang up. I called again and explained we needed new towels, she said “no towels!” Then hang up. I called again, same answer, then hang up. We then go down to the lobby, this same girl looked annoyed and said NO TOWELS! Her level of service was just very bad and unacceptable! It was only until when we asked for her name, she acted she didn’t understand English. Then I spoke in Japanese asking for her name. Then her attitude changed. Gave us 3 towels. I said we needed 6 for 6 people. Then she said no again! I said it is ridiculous if the hotel only has 4 clean towels! And I will write my experience on my booking platform. Then she finally took us to our floor and said there are many towels there. To be fair, all other staff was very friendly, including the boy who checked us in and the girl called Monya who checked us out and helped us with delivering the luggages to our next hotel. I don’t need compensation from this hotel as I will not be returning to this hotel again because of this one bad staff but I surely hope management can give her better training on how to handle simple customer requests with a right attitude.

If you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

Spacious and clean room, with welcoming service! We drove to Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora by ourselves arriving rather late in the evening, but still we were warmly greeted by their staff, who followed us to the car park and helped us take our luggages. Check in was smooth and we were in our room in no time! We asked the staff if there was any restaurant nearby and they printed out pages of different selections around the area! Since it was getting late, we didn't bother to go out for dinner, so we gave the hotel's restaurant a try, which quality took us by surprise! Dinner was pretty close to a fine dining experience, with good quality food and fair price - highly recommend. Breakfast was at the same restaurant and buffet style! Yum! The room was clean and spacious, however, the onsen was semi open and we were a bit worried people outside may see us. There won't be people walking right outside, but still fairly close to the gas station/ convenience store across the street - may have to put in consideration on which room type you'd choose.
