"Beautiful hotel with gardens and a fantastic spa. The rooms are spacious and full of character, but unfortunately poorly maintained. The carpets are worn, furniture stained and wallpaper peeling. All to be expected from a hotel as old as this, although it’s wise to curb your expectations as hotel pictures aren’t an accurate reflection. Room 135 was so full of potential and could be absolutely spectacular with some TLC. Staff were wonderful; attentive, warm and helpful."

"The room itself was generally fine, and the heating worked perfectly. However, we experienced a significant issue with the bathroom: the water would not drain properly, leaving the floor flooded. We had to use a wiper to push the water toward the sink and drain (images attached), which was very inconvenient. Another surprising and disappointing detail was that no towels or soap were provided. These are basic essentials in any hotel, and since we did not bring our own, we were charged extra for them. This felt completely unreasonable. Finally, the location is far from ideal. The hotel is quite a distance from the town centre, and public transport is infrequent, making it difficult to get around. Would not recommend!!!"

"Great hotel with really friendly staff. Rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. We had breakfast which was very very good and a good menu selection. Atherstone is a great little town,some nice pubs,a good Indian restaurant and near the canal. Would definitely stay here again."

"Hotel is a mixture of old and new parts. We were in the original part of the hotel which was very nice, very large bathroom, nice bedroom with air con. The down side was that there was not a lift available and the steps on the stairs to the top floor bedrooms were quite narrow, but overall a lovely hotel with two car parks and the food was very nice. Would definitely stop there again."

"The hotel's location is excellent. It's not on a main thoroughfare but is right by the Shakespeare Theatre, and the main shopping street is only a two-minute walk away. You can also easily walk to McDonald's, Tesco Local, Sainsbury's, Marks & Spencer, and a bookstore. It's an ideal choice for exploring Stratford-upon-Avon and for taking buses to Cotswolds towns like Chipping Campden."

"Took myself away for the weekend. the location of this hotel was perfect for me to decide where I could go for the day. There's a lot to do in the area, from bowling with an arcade, soft play for children, and cinema. A good selection of places for food and drinks. The train station isn't too far away and opens up a lot more places. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. They give recommendations and help direct to whatever you need / want. The staff also on arrival ask I'd you have a preferred floor. Stayed here 3 times. I would definitely recommend and stay again if needed to."

"It is said to be a 28 square meter room, but I was given a room of at most 16 square meters. The quilt cover was not flat, a crumpled towel was placed beside the bathtub, and the items provided were of poor quality. Except for the outer shell of the entire building, there are not many historical traces inside. There is no lobby. There is a table in the narrow space at the entrance for check-in. Then go straight up the stairs. The price/performance ratio is too low."

"Located at the service station so access to the shops and restaurants there. We didn't order the breakfast as it charged for children. The guy at reception was very helpful though as he gave us extra milk and the lady at check out was very friendly. The stay was basic but ok. The extra bed - the mattress was a bit narrow for the bed so felt like I might roll out of it but not a bad night's sleep. No AC but they did provide a large fan."

"Couple with dog. For two nights we didn't have hot water. We rang reception an spoke to the duty manager - the second time...He told us it was because there was a coach load of people staying who had all taken a shower/bath at the same time on their return, and we would have to wait until it heated up again. That didn't allow for the lack of pressure - a trickle! In the end we gave up - no shower/bath. However, the duty manager assured us that the manager would find us the next morning.... this never happened, On the Saturday night the same thing happened. The excuse given by the receptionist for the manager not having found us that morning was there was a wedding and all managers were needed - they didn't start their shift until 11am. The duty manager couldn't speak to us as he was working at the wedding - Saturday night - but Leanne assured us that she had noted our complaint and that she had written up notes, and our inconvenience (now not having hot water for two nights of a three night stay) would be reflected in our invoice on checking out. This wasn't the point. The stay was supposed to be a relaxing, super special treat, not able to have a shower or a bath at night was NOT okay! She assured us that on the third night the 'tour' party and 'wedding party' would have left. So we would have hot water. Which we did. On checking out the receptionist had no idea about our complaint, and therefore couldn't help us. We are in the process of writing a compliant, and a review. The staff and hotel did not let you down - the management did! I have a video of the water pressure. On another point, the hotel is described as dog friendly. This might be the case. You can bring your dog for a fee of £25 a night, however, on check in we were told we had to eat in the bar area or outside. Luckily the weather was okay. However, we felt like second class citizens! Not only that but the bar area has no tables at which anyone could eat a meal - the tables are all low and only fit for snacks!"
