The Celtic Royal Hotel

What a lovely hotel. My friend and I booked a weekend break which included breakfast afternoon tea a dinner on one evening We were not disappointed. Sadly we weee unable to use the facilities until check in Ron if 4pm which I found a little odd. However we we went for a walk around Caernarfon. Check in was simple and our room was lovely and warm. I have to say it this is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever been in. Yes some of the rooms are a little dated maybe, but the hotel has gone above and beyond to make sure it looked fresh. We used the leisure area. The pool was a little cold I felt but sauna and steam room were perfect. Food was gorgeous. if I was to be a little picky it was that the breakfast buffet was not exactly in the dining room but there may well be a reason for that. I quite like having bread and some cooked meat at breakfast which wasn’t there but the cooked breakfast was fabulous and again there was plenty to choose from anyway. The staff were brilliant one receptionist was not as friendly we didn’t think but the other well they really are a credit to the hotel they were super friendly and could not do enough for you. The two I remember were I think Juliet and possibly Josh on reception I didn’t get the names of the other staff but they were all lovely Thank you to the staff for making our stay great we will definately be back
Ty Afon - River House

From start to finish this place was amazing. I spoke with the hotel owner Regan in February prior to booking explaining it was my wife’s 60th birthday and I wanted it to be special, and neither he or his wife Emma didn’t disappoint, brilliant hosts, providing fabulous hospitality. The breakfasts were all very good (we stayed for 4 nights) the breakfast room has all been redesigned and refurnished, as had the room we stayed in which had a picturesque view over the mountain which the hotel overlooks at the front. The hotel now called the Ty Afon - River House is situated within a pleasant 5 min walk from the centre of the village. Nothing was too much trouble and his staff we also equally friendly and accommodating. A really enjoyable stay and we shall definitely return next year, thank you for making my wife’s birthday so special🙏
YHA Snowdon PEN-y-Pass
4.2/569 Reviews
Excellently located at the foot of Mt Snowdon, and offering various hiking routes to the summit and nearby points of interest. Catering to individuals, families, school groups alike. Bunk beds are a little narrow, however very comfortable at that. Single-sex dorms are provided, along with family/private rooms. Lockers also available in the dorms for the storage of valuables - just remember to bring a lock & key however, as these are not offered. If relying on public transportation to get around, then you have a selection of bus services to choose from, given Pen-y-Pass provides a local bus hub in the area. There's also available parking nearby. There is a local ranger's office nearby, if needing further suggestions/information on the local area - although, the office is only open at certain times during the day/week. The YHA provides a fully functional, self-catering kitchen - you just need to be well organised as to bringing in food from outside, given there are no nearby shops/stores. Closest shops/stores tend to be in Llanberis, and there are farm shops in the vicinity as well. If not interested in self-catering, then the YHA also offers a good selection in it's menu, at affordable prices. This venue offers, clean, comfortable & cheap accommodation to one & all - highly recommended.
Travelodge Bangor

A beautiful building, atmospheric and old, with a great vioew of Loch Ness - really has to be the best. The hotel is a looking a little old and tired. The 4 poster suite is the best in the hotel, but neeeds and upgrade. The food also needs a total makeover. Verdict: a lovely hotel that needs major investment and upgrade. Book through a travel website, as the hotel's own rates are too high.
The Management Centre

We stayed here for 1 night at the start of our 11 night break to walk round the coastline of Anglesey and 1 night at the end of our holiday. We have previously stayed here whilst walking the Welsh coast path about a year ago. The good things - We stayed in room 3 both nights (and this was the same room we had stayed in previously!). The room was clean, comfortable, great bed and great shower. Everything you need for a pleasant stay The staff were all very helpful and pleasant The evening meal in the restaurant was lovely The things that could be improved- When we stayed a year ago the breakfast was one of the best ones we had on our holiday - sadly the same can’t be said for this time. The first night we stayed breakfast was served in the reception area seating and the hot food was in metal trays with lids and staff were lifting the lids to allow for self service. The food was average at best and felt like we were in a school canteen! The second night we stayed for this holiday it was slightly improved as seating was moved back to the restaurant and a far nicer experience. Food was slightly better as it was better presented and warmed properly. We had emailed before our holiday to ask if it would be possible to leave our car in the car park for the duration of our holiday. We received a “no sorry” so in the end left our car on a road nearby, however the staff we spoke to on reception didn’t think it would be a problem but as we had previously been told it wasn’t possible we didn’t feel comfortable leaving it in the car park. That said - we would stay again overall if we go back to Bangor.
The Black Boy Inn

My wife and I stayed here recently and used it as a base to explore Snowdonia. Our room was stunning! Very clean and a mix of modern decor mixed with the traditional old building. The staff were very friendly and were happy to help if ever needed. Food was beautiful! We had breakfast every morning that had everything from cereal to sausage and bacon etc. The lunch/evening meals were awesome as well. Plenty of choice. Great stay and we will definitely be returning on day.

Excellent relaxing stay from start to finish at a marvelous superior room at Penmaenuchaf Hotel. A wonderful experience and am already planning my next visit! Such a relaxing place with beautiful gardens in a beautiful setting. Staff were extremely welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. We really appreciated thier kind attention, which made the stay extra special. I would like to praise the chef for the best, tastiest breakfast I've ever had! Can't wait to come again! Will definitely be recommending your hotel to all my friends and relatives.
The Fanny Talbot
4.6/518 Reviews
I have stayed at The Fanny Talbot previously in the hotel rooms which are fantastic to say the least and the aircon is a massive plus. This review is for apartment 4 which accommodates 6 which we recently booked for 7 nights. To get into the apartments you have a front door at the side of the main pub door but is closed off with a screen up the disabled ramp. You then enter the hallway and up a flight of stairs turn left for apartment 3 or fight for 4. As soon as you enter the apartment you enter a small hallway with a coat rack and shoe tray and the stairs to the first two bedrooms and shower room and directly in front of you is the open living and dining room and kitchen. The dining room has a solid corner cupboard which has the spray mop, long brush and high chair. The dining table has a bench and three chairs which are of a high quality. The living room consists of two three seat sofas and a long velvet footstool tv cabinet and large smart tv. The kitchen has a washer dryer which is great except the dryer takes a long time so I only put it on before going to sleep overnight. It has a full sized dishwasher plenty of cabinets, pots, pans, kettle, microwave, toaster, oven, electric hob, cafeteria and some complementary Welsh ground coffee which is a great touch. It also has cup, saucers plates, glassware and cutlery except that there was not enough of the bowls, plates cutlery, glassware probably due due to breakages but should really be checked as part of the cleaning afterwards maybe. The kitchen has a large integrated fridge freezer and Brita filter water jug. On the 2nd floor you have the shower room with basin and wc and the first two bedrooms which consist of a double bed, wardrobe and bedside tables. Unfortunately there are no TV’s in these rooms. The third floor has the master bedroom and bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, two bedside tables, a vanity table, double wardrobe a chest of drawers and a tv unit with a large tv unit. The master bathroom has a lovely deep oval bath, large shower cubicle, wash basin and wc. All of which is very clean and well presented. What would improve the apartments would be installing AC like the rooms in the hotel, a vacuum cleaner the missing kitchenware and a book containing instructions for the appliances and local attractions. The food is absolutely amazing at the Pub and i highly recommend you try it. It isn’t the cheapest by a long shot but you most definitely get what you pay for as the quality of the ingredients and presentation is truly spectacular. The chef was a finalist on Master Chef and i really cannot understand how he did not win. We have to say the staff were amazing and very accommodating as we had an autistic child with us. I highly recommend staying here be it the hotel rooms or the apartments which are reasonable prices and certainly a high end finish and quality furnishings. We will see you again on 2nd November and keep up the amazing work.
