Hotel Monaco

I prepaid for 2 nights (to save $) but only stayed one. The bottom line is that someone was rooting around in my room and the hotel staff showed zero concern about it.  The full story: I stopped at the hotel before dinner and found my room had been cleaned (btw, no 'do not disturb' option). Otherwise all was well. When I returned from dinner, someone had been in my room - stuff was moved and the TV was on. I immediately told the front desk, and she offered to have the cameras checked the following day. I insisted that they be checked immediately, to which she tried to call an administrator but got no answer. There was no offer to give me a different room or any other show of concern so I asked for a refund (also required an administrator) and left.  No way I was staying there with no idea who was in my room or why.  I booked through hotels.com who assured me that was unacceptable and that they'd sort out my refund... but had to contact the hotel administrators first. First, it'd only take them half an hour to review the cctv. Half an hour later? Nothing. The next day - they needed another hour. I gave them 2. It was Saturday and the right people wouldn't be in until Monday. After all of that, my refund was denied with no explanation.  I still have no idea who was in my room or why, but I'm so glad I had all my valuables with me (no safe in the room).  PS. I only asked for a refund of the 2nd night, which I thought was pretty darn reasonable given how bad the first night was: First off: NO WIFI.  It existed but didn't actually work - got maybe 10 minutes of checking email before it died.  The hotel is under construction. My room had exposed fuses and no patio railing. But there also was no doorknob on the patio door so... yeah.  There were construction supplies on the patio wrapped in plastic that whipped around in the wind all night. Very noisy. And cold - no thermostat in the room and only a thin (stained) blanket provided. They stupidly chose to install soaking tubs instead of normal bathtubs. They look nice, but the bottom isn't flat at all. I'm 34yo with fantastic balance (paddleboarding and ice hockey) and my shower almost killed me. The beds are hard with limp pillows. Breakfast is supposed to stop at 10am but they stop putting out new food around 9am so by 9:30 your options are dry toast and/or lunch meat. They also aren't flexible about this at all - overhear an older woman seeing if they could eat 10 min early as they were doing a tour - denied.  My new hotel gave me the option to open breakfast early or pack me a lunch when I told them I'd have to check out before breakfast started.   If you choose to book here in spite of all this, also be aware that the name on the front of the building is something about being a hotel at the end of the world. I almost didn't go in just because I wasn't sure I was in the right place at all.

The restaurant dinner was genuinely fabulous - Michelin worthy. Mushroom risotto followed by a beef tenderloin that was 6 inches high and grilled to perfection. After that, a chocolate fondue with fruit and profiteroles! This is why I gave the hotel five stars. Had it not been for that meal, it would have earned 4. Unfortunately, the soundproofing between rooms is virtually nonexistent. This fact takes away from the beautiful view over the Beagle Channel. Service at the hotel was also very good with one big exception, a rather sullen woman (shania or something like it) greeted us on the fist day with absolute apathy and was never pleasant after that. The balance of the staff are great. But if you choose not to stay any the hotel, eat at the restaurant. It is worth the trip.

First of all, the store is very enthusiastic. This hostel is more suitable for professional backpackers. It is cheap and can cook small meals. The location is okay, the city is just a little bit big anyway. Hygiene should be rougher, after all, many backpackers are somewhat unaccustomed. The bathroom is shared, hot water is available. The scenery is infinitely good Again

Staying at a hotel on the mountain and the view is beyond praise! The breakfast restaurant every morning and the fire roasting in the evening have a sense of ”back to the past”, but at the same time, it is very comfortable. However, the breakfast content is actually a bit monotonous, but this is Ushuaia after all, so you can’t ask for too much.

The scenery is too beautiful. It can be a business trip and just stayed for one day. If you come here in winter, it is really great. It is very suitable for vacation and the prices are also very cheap. King crabs and steaks are very cheap. Argentine Sol The exchange rate is really invincible
Alto Andino Hotel

After travelling for nearly two days flatout without much sleep at all, we were really looking forward to a comfy bed and a good kip, which is exactly what we got when we managed to get the room to a normal temperature as both radiators in the room and bathroom were on full whack and with it being a smll basement room it held the hart really well. All good after 10 mins with windows wide open, and radiators off. We booked through an agent that we had used for our Antarctic Cruise, and although we stipulated a double bed with possibly a good view the agent did not pass on this information and so we ended up in twins in a basement room (no fault of the hotel directly). Unfortunately the staff had no other rooms available to move us into, but said they could look into it for our second (and last) night, but we didn't want the hassle of having to pack again and move everything when we were heading out early the next morning, so we kindly declined. The breakfast was included in our rate, with plenty of mainly cold foods (although some small pieces of warm hotdogs and eggs). Breakfast was on the fourth floor, and the views were spectacular (see photos). We could see the ship from the window (that was supposed to be taking us to Antarctica - separate review to follow but please beware of more recent reviews of Ocean Victory if you are thinking of booking). Next door to the breckfast room was a coffee machine and pastries available to guests anytime, which was a lovely touch. The reception didn't make us aware of this, but my partner had spotted this on someone else's review fortunately. Again, the views while you are having a coffee are amazing. Stupidly forgot to pack out converters, but reception were kind enough to borrow us one for our stay. Location is ideal, everything in Ushuaia seemed easy to stroll to, it's only a few mins to the main shopping street, and only 5 mins walk to the port. Would highly recommend this place, but ask for a view because that is a massive key feature to this lovely little place.

Lovely large room, well equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave and crockery. Large setee that converts into another bed if needed. Hotel complex is attractive, reception staff helpful. Breakfast was good. Location up the hill from seafront may be a disadvantage for some.

-Modern, bright apartments with a very good location since they are one block from the main street of Ushuaia. -They offer towels, bedding and amenities in the bathroom, which are liquid soap, conditioner and shampoo. They also have a hair dryer. They also leave you sachets of coffee, tea, sugar and sachets of powdered milk. -It is equipped with the basics for cooking. -The heating is very good. -Regarding the wifi, it was a little bad only once, but being on vacation, it's the thing that mattered the least to me. -Check in is done at a hotel just around the corner, where you can leave your suitcases in storage until you can enter. To enter the apartment and the building, they assign you a code, so you don't have to worry about the keys. -If you want to have breakfast at said hotel, you can do it at an extra cost and if you need the apartment cleaned during your stay it is also at an extra cost and you can request it for a specific day, if you do not want it done every day . -The reception staff are very attentive and answer all the questions you have.

I am on a business trip halfway a year. The service at this hotel is really 5 stars. Bar's sandwiches and soups are the most exquisite meals I have ever eaten in South America, and the potato chips are also the best; the hotel can be seen at a small size. The scenery of the town, the lobby, the restaurant, the layout of the rooms are exquisite, and the journey throughout Ushuaia is great!
