The Charming City on the Adriatic Coast -- Trieste
📍Attraction Address: Trieste is located in the northeastern part of Italy, on the northeastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. It is a crossroads of Germanic, Latin, and Slavic cultures. It is at the top border of the Italian boot, like a fine fold, extending along the Adriatic Sea.
👍️Must-visit Attractions: As the footsteps of autumn quietly approach, the charm of Trieste, this Italian city, becomes even more enchanting. In this golden season, embarking on a romantic autumn journey to explore the unique charm of Trieste will surely make you linger.
Standing in Piazza Unità d'Italia, I realized that Trieste is completely different from what I imagined. This border city of Italy was once the most important seaport of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The buildings on Piazza Unità d'Italia emit a pearly white glow, exuding elegance and freshness amidst solemnity. Not far away is the clear blue sea of the Adriatic, making the whole city appear sunny and open. This square, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, is said to be the largest seafront square in Europe. During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was simply and crudely named the "Great Square," and later, as Trieste became part of Italy, it was named to celebrate the unification.
In the center of Trieste, there is a wide canal, facing which is a large cathedral. The guest docks near the port are now filled with private yachts, attracting not only locals but also a large number of tourists from all directions. The seaside boulevard is lined with bars and restaurants, bustling with people as the lights come on. In the deep water area in the distance, a huge cruise ship is docked, with many people carrying luggage heading towards the cruise.
It is not as crowded as Venice, Florence, and Rome, nor does it overly market itself. In short, Trieste does not have the typical drawbacks of Italy's major art cities; it is a low-key yet charming city.
