A cafe with a swing
The Junglila Cafe and Restaurant
The interior of the restaurant is stylish no matter where you take a photo!
The counter seats are swings and the area where the swings are is covered with sand.
There are also canopy seats covered with lace.
The large windows are fully open, so I went in the evening and enjoyed the sunset while looking at the sea.

Okinawa Prefectural Museum
#okinawatrip Okinawa Prefectural Museum is a lovely museum! Admission fee is required and for visitors who are interested in visiting the Art Museum, a separate admission fee will be charged.
The museum is not big and consists of one level but is very informative. It was an enjoyable visit and all the displays in the museum were very well done! The museum was very clean, organized, and quiet. A dinosaur fossil can be seen at the entrance of the museum. There is also a souvenir shop and a good place to buy gifts & local arts & crafts items.
Ta-taki Waterfall
#okinawatrip This is a really fun hike. We always bring our kids with us and it's refreshing to dip in the water after a 25 minute hike. The trail is covered by trees so it's not to hot but the rocks can hurt your soles.
Make sure you wear water shoes! We had 0 expectations, but it turned out to be great adventure. We were there on Thursday morning in late September, and we were there alone, but to my knowledge it gets pretty crowded. The only way to get there is walking through a river, so expect to get wet. You can rent wet shoes on the parking nearby, which is highly recommended if you don't have any as the rocks are sharp and slippery in places.
Mermaid's Grotto
#okinawatrip An impressive place with a cave that looks like hollowed out the inside of a huge rock. If you don't go at low tide, you can't enter the cave. In the tide pool, you can see small fish such as red snapper.
It's a place that only those who know know now, but if the Four Seasons Hotel is under construction and opens on the south side of Apogama, there will be no sense of a secret place. If you're going, maybe now. There is no parking lot, so it will be parked on the street at the end of the road.
Ryukyu Village
#okinawatrip Hmm, I don't feel like the scale and the exhibition house are half-baked. After all, it will be compared to Ryukyu Village. In Ryukyu Village, there are many intangible cultural properties of the prefecture, and the number of houses on display is incomparable to that of Okinawa Local Village. If you want to learn about old private houses in Ryukyu, I think you should go to Ryukyu Village. Also, as of May 2020, restoration work of aging houses is being carried out, so it is not possible to see many exhibits. I would like to look forward to the Okinawa local village after the restoration.
In the facility, there are various events where you can experience the old-fashioned Okinawa, such as shamisen experience, Kachashi experience, and seasonal events.
Sonohiya Take Ontake Sekimon
#okinawatrip It is Sonohiya Take Ontake Sekimon behind Shuri Castle.
It's on the left side just after entering Shuri Castle, but it's a world heritage site that is so inconspicuous that if you don't know it, you'll pass by the Shurei Gate.
But tourists from overseas are lining up here to take pictures,
Even if you pass by, you may notice that you should not pass by on the way home.
It is a compact but well-made gate, and you can enjoy it with a profound feeling even if you look at it from the back.
Cape Hedo
#okinawatrip Cape Hedo stands as a captivating landmark at the northern tip of Okinawa, Japan. Renowned for its breathtaking panoramic views, the cape offers a mesmerizing fusion of rugged cliffs, deep blue seas, and expansive skies. The journey to Cape Hedo is an adventure in itself, with winding roads that lead to this remote destination, providing glimpses of Okinawa's scenic countryside along the way.
Upon reaching the cape, visitors are greeted by a striking monument marking the point where the Pacific Ocean and East China Sea converge. The sheer cliffs create a dramatic backdrop against the azure waters, making it a photographer's paradise. The sense of isolation and the distant echoes of waves crashing against the rocks contribute to an awe-inspiring atmosphere.
Cape Hedo also serves as a gateway to explore the untamed wilderness of Yanbaru Forest, with hiking trails leading to hidden gems within the surrounding nature. The expansive views from the observation deck allow visitors to appreciate the vastness of the ocean and the unique geography of this northernmost point in Okinawa.
While the journey to Cape Hedo may require a bit of time and effort, the unparalleled beauty and tranquility make it a worthwhile pilgrimage for those seeking a connection with nature and a sense of awe-inspiring solitude.
Valley of Gangala in Okinawa
#okinawatrip
The Valley of Gangala in Okinawa, Japan, is a mystical sanctuary steeped in natural beauty and ancient history. This sacred site, nestled amidst lush forests and limestone formations, offers visitors a glimpse into the island's rich spiritual heritage. Exploring the valley's winding paths and hidden caves reveals a treasure trove of archaeological wonders, including ancient burial sites and sacred relics. The tranquil ambiance and stunning landscapes make it a serene retreat for contemplation and connection with nature. Whether marveling at the majestic rock formations or immersing oneself in the valley's mystical aura, a visit to the Valley of Gangala is an unforgettable journey through time.
One of the 8 shinto shrine in Okinawa
#okinawatrip
This is a must-visit spot in Okinawa. Beautiful shrine at the edge of a cliff in Naha. It's a perfect little sanctuary amongst all the loud chaos nearby. There is a direct entrance to the beach from right next to the shrine will give you an amazing view seeing it on the cliffside. Parking can be difficult, but there are paid parking lots nearby. It was so beautiful!
Water Intake Tower
#okinawatrip
This is the only facility that directs water from Kurashiki Dam downstream. It is called the water intake tower, and is designed to take in good quality dam water from a 16m gap between an elevation of 48.0m and the permanent full water level of 64.2m. The specific mechanism is that seven intake gates (each about 2.8m high, functions like a partition plate, and is made of rust-resistant metal) are installed vertically in series inside the tower, and only the range of the height at which water is to be taken is opened mechanically, and the dam water in that range is directed downstream.
Iha Park with Slides
#okinawatrip
Great park & playground. The big orange slide goes super fast so if you let your small toddler go up by themselves wait to catch them at the bottom 😉. Kids love the red hammock swings, this park seems busy so if the want to use the swings have them start waiting in line when there's a lot of kids waiting. The paved path goes all around the park which is great for jogging or stroller jogging.
Southeast Botanical Gardens
#okinawatrip
Really great botanical gardens with many interesting animals. I recommend bringing 100 yen coins so you can feed them (ranging from 100-400yen). There is also horse back riding. Visited this place during the daytime and had a really great time. The staff were friendly and helped directed me to the animals. The animals were very cool and the restrictions were very relaxed. I will come back again at night because I was told that was the best time to visit.
Stairway to Heaven
#okinawatrip If you’re looking for a good leg workout with a reward of a view I recommend the Stairway to Heaven. I believe there are 200 steps. If you go around sunset you will be in for quite the treat. It is breathtaking. It’s definitely a good workout for cardio and leg strength so bring water. Great workout plus nice view at the top. Challenging and yet fun with friends. Everyone should do it at least once!
Large Park in Okinawa
#okinawatrip
It's a surprisingly large park. It's a very strange place, with the entrances and exits hidden in the grass or in the gaps between the houses. But it's a large, well-equipped park with baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, playground equipment, a pond and a stream, and of course a parking lot. There seems to be a lot of spring water, so there are many puddles on the playground after rain, but the areas with the playground equipment, which have been slightly raised, are easy to play in.
Unique Style of Misato Park
#okinawatrip
It is a relatively large park. It is a lively area with residential areas, elementary schools, government offices, izakayas, etc. in the surrounding area. There are slides, rope climbing, and play equipment for small children in the park, so you can enjoy it. There are also rubber chip paved promenades around the park where many people can be seen walking and jogging, and there is also a large grassy area where children can practice soccer. There is also a skateboard bank, which is not often seen in other parks, so it is a park recommended for skateboard enthusiasts.
There is a parking lot in front of the toilets, but the number of cars that can be parked is limited.
Yanbaru National Park
#okinawatrip Yanbaru National Park was one of the biggest reasons for us to visit the north part of Okinawa island.
The park is amazing and we had a great time climbing the mountain area around the Yonaha mountain , the tallest mountain of the Okinawa main island.
Little bit disappointing was that the top of the mountain doesn’t have any sign about reaching the absolute top and you can get easily confused whether you already climbed the top or not.
Otherwise the place is so much fun and there are many things worth visiting in the National park other than Yonaha, for example famous waterfalls and others.
Itoman Bibi Beach
#okinawatrip It was a great day! Sun was out, wind was blowing (acting like a hair dryer), and water was warm for me.The views were incredible (which I had attached some pictures) & it was not even close to being crowded. We had eaten at the little cafe which was very convenient. It was affordable, and pretty good.. Beaches are clean, refreshments, shaded areas, and toilets available and, it is a good place to take family. Both times, I noticed wedding photographers, bring clients, to take pre-wedding photos, under the beautiful blue skies.
This is highly recommended.
Sesoko Beach
#okinawatrip It was great and really fun having place but kinda expensive as we had to buy a lot of stuffs around to get into the beach.
Visiting beach is free but the gears we need, showers, even washing legs and all costs here.
There was a restaurant which was only take out.
However, there is a big hotel called Hilton. Seems really expensive and sophisticated one.
If you want to stay around, it's a lovely place but expensive too. So plan wisely.
Terasaki Beach • Tumai
#okinawatrip Gorgeous beach, remote, but with bathroom facilities nearby. I realize looking at pictures people have posted of Terasaki Beach, that some of my pictures from Muinushi Beach are actually of this one. The reason is that I participated in a morning beach clean-up that started at Muinushi Beach and headed to Terasaki as well. Since it was later morning by the time I got to this beach, most of my pictures are actually of Terasaki. Both beaches were incredible, and like I mention in my Muinushi review, I highly highly recommend trying to participate in a beach clean up one morning you are in Yoron. It was, along with going to the non-existent existent Yoron Station, the highlight of my visit.
Okinawa Shuri Castle
#okinawatrip
Okinawa's Shuri Castle stands as a poignant symbol of the Ryukyu Kingdom's rich history and cultural heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage site, located in Naha, Japan, boasts intricate architecture, vibrant colors, and sprawling grounds that transport visitors back in time. The castle's majestic gates, graceful gardens, and ornate halls offer glimpses into a bygone era of royalty and tradition. Despite the devastation it faced during World War II, meticulous restoration efforts have restored its grandeur, allowing visitors to marvel at its beauty and significance. Shuri Castle is a must-visit destination, offering a captivating journey through Okinawa's captivating past.
Hate-no-hama
#okinawatrip
The beautiful white sandy beach lasts for a long time.
I stayed for about an hour.
There were a lot of beautiful blue poisonous jellyfish.
The guide taught me not to touch it.
Swings and flags for photography are also installed.
There is also a portable toilet.
There is a lot of overseas garbage drifting, so I would like to bring a garbage bag next time.
Kaimiru
#okinawatrip It’s been over a year since we’ve visited this shop, but my son still talks about the delicious Beniimo-mochi(sweet potato rice cake) that we ate here. There’s sufficient parking and a beautiful view from the terrace, so if you’re looking for a break from the beach, or driving through area I’d recommend stopping for a local treat! This Is highly recommended.
Nakamoto Beach
#okinawatrip Really good snorkelling beach. Only able to snorkel during low tide and you can check it with the locals.Be careful when going snorkelling as you might enter the water from the shallow end and for that I'd recommend renting boots which I didn't rent. There are lots of fish and even nemo! And lots of coral reefs. Be aware of a type of beautiful colorful fish which might attack you....
Yaeshima Park
#okinawatrip
The park itself is large.
2 playgrounds, a lot of benches and pavilions, several public toilets, hiking trails, a basketball court, and areas to play ball or lounge on the grass. One of the large slides was closed, yet we were still able to enjoy the other one. We were able to walk out dog on leash around the whole premise.
There were a lot of Sakura, wild flowers, and other trees in bloom. It's really beautiful there.
Full playground with giant slide, zip line
#okinawatrip
Excellent park where all local kids would play around, baseball court available. Park facilities for kids is new and fun, they are all enjoying and our kid was having so much fun there. Will definitely visit again. Happy and fun park for kids. Climbing part is really good for kids. Such a fun not quite hidden gem! Full playground with giant slide, zip line, track, wooden maze and toddler area. Parking is limited, but street park is available.
Nakajo Mall Ura Beach
#okinawatrip
I loved this beach because you can make bonfires on the beach and walk into the grocery store right next to it (called the English camp for some strange reason) and buy s’mores stuff for cheap. The water was cold when I went and there is no jelly fish net so you need to be careful if you’re swimming 🏊♂️ . Also, I was playing with the volleyball 🏐 and there are 🗿a lot of large rocks and stones in the sand at places that hurt your feet so be careful. Their are so many beautiful sea shells here though and it’s a quite little beach that you can go to with friends.
Also, the mermaid 🧜🏻♀️🧜🏼statues are pretty and you should get some pictures with them. Oh. And there is a swing on the beach too.
