Bulgaria is a treasure trove of travel destinations! Before I came, I thought the capital Sofia was nothing special. After a day of exploring, I completely changed my mind. There are so many museums and churches here, you will be amazed. And those cafes and restaurants hidden in the corners, any corner can bring you unexpected surprises💕 Sofia is perfect for a leisurely city walk🚶🏻‍♂️ The main attractions are within walking distance. A day trip is full and fun! ✨Sofia Day Trip ✅Central Mineral Baths (Sofia History Museum) The first stop is the Central Mineral Baths, which is now the Sofia History Museum, showcasing the history and culture of Sofia from the 6th century BC to the 1940s. It is well worth a visit. Next to it is the Banya Bashi Mosque, and it is also nice to admire the architecture from the outside👀 ✅St. Nedelya Church From the Central Mineral Baths, pass by the Church of St. Petka and then head to St. Nedelya Church.⛪️ The Church of St. Petka is built underground and is currently not open to the public, so you can only see the exterior. St. Nedelya Church was first built in the 10th century and has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. What we see now was built in the mid-19th century. ✅St. George Rotunda Then go to the nearby St. George Rotunda, which is the oldest monument in Sofia. After leaving the church, the Largo is not far away, and opposite is the Statue of Saint Sofia, which is a landmark of Sofia and a must-see. ✅National Archaeological Museum This is my favorite museum in Sofia, don't miss it! It used to be the largest mosque in Sofia, and the museum exhibits precious treasures such as gold and silver from the ancient Thracians. Walking inside, even the floor under your feet is full of ancient charm, as if you can touch the traces of history. ✅National Art Gallery: This was originally the west wing of the Bulgarian royal palace, and the building itself is a typical representative of modern and national revival art. The museum houses about 50,000 Bulgarian artworks and a large number of medieval paintings. The National Opera House is not far from the art gallery, and you can see the exterior. Next to it is the Church of St. Nicholas II, which you can also visit. ✅Alexander Nevsky Cathedral This church is also called the Golden Dome Church and is a landmark that cannot be missed in Sofia. It is not only the largest church in the Balkans, but also one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. The interior of the church is magnificent and spectacular. ✅St. Sofia Church In contrast, St. Sofia Church is more simple. The city of Sofia was named after this church in the 14th century. ✅Sofia University If you have time, you can also visit Sofia University, a Baroque-style building that is classical and grand. Not far from the university are the Soviet Army Monument, Eagle Bridge, and the Bulgarian Parliament Building, which can all be visited together.

Bulgaria, a place with a name that is poetic and romantic. This land known as the "hometown of roses" is full of roses in early summer every year, and the fragrance is overflowing. It not only beautifies the earth, but also the world's top rose oil producing area. Walking in it, it seems to be in a pink dream, and every breath is a yearning and praise for a better life. What's even more exciting is that Bulgaria is also the location of one of the "Top Ten Sexy Beaches in the World" selected by Playboy magazine-Golden Sands. The beach here is as delicate as silk, the sea is blue and clear, and it contrasts with the mountains in the distance, forming a refreshing picture. Whether it's sunbathing, surfing, or simply strolling by the sea, you can forget the hustle and bustle and enjoy the tranquility and comfort.

St Nikolas Russian Church Highlights - This is a stunning architectural gem. The church blends Russian Orthodox tradition with a vibrant golden domes and intricate mosaics. There is a beautiful garden outside offering a peaceful haven in the heart of the city. 2. St Sophia Church Highlights - This is a historic Byzantine basilica from 6th century, renowned for its ancient architecture and as the namesake of Sofia city. 3. Originally built as a small wooden church, it has been rebuilt several times due to natural disasters and historical events. The church was extensively expanded in the mid-19th century, but was severely damaged in an earthquake in 1858. The church was rebuilt and consecrated in 1867. In 1925, the church suffered a bomb attack that destroyed much of the structure and killed more than 150 people. The church was rebuilt again between 1927 and 1933 and restored to its present appearance. The architecture of the Cathedral of Saint Nedelya is an example of Byzantine Revival style. The existing building was designed by the famous Bulgarian architectural team Vasilyov and Tsolov and features a grand central dome and multiple smaller domes that form a stunning skyline. The interior is decorated with beautiful frescoes and intricate wood carvings, reflecting the rich artistic tradition of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The entrance to the grounds is free, making it a budget-friendly outing. The playground itself is well-maintained and features various play structures, swings, and slides, all surrounded by lush greenery. It’s a great place for kids to run around and have fun! Central Sofia Market Hall is a great example of Neo-Renaissance architecture, blending elements of Neo-Byzantine and Neo-Baroque. Designed by architect Naum Torbov, the building’s facade is decorated with a relief of Sofia’s coat of arms, created by artist Haralampi Tachev, above the main entrance. The most iconic feature of the Market Hall is its clock tower, which sits atop the building and adds to its historic charm. The cathedral was named after Russian prince and saint Alexander Nevsky and was built between 1882 and 1912. It symbolizes Bulgaria's gratitude to Russia and is an outstanding example of neo-Byzantine architectural style. The cathedral's grand scale and beautiful design make it a must-see destination for tourists and the central place of worship for the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The architectural design of St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a stunning example of the Neo-Byzantine style. Designed by Russian architect Alexander Pomerantsev, the cathedral follows the cross-domed cathedral layout, with a prominent central dome and bell tower. The interior is decorated with Italian marble, Brazilian onyx and Venetian mosaics, creating a regal ambience. The exterior of the cathedral is equally impressive, with its gold-plated dome and exquisite stone carvings, making it a masterpiece of religious architecture.

It was a trip to Sofia, Bulgaria. Just to share some of my favourite places and restaurants. Upon arrival, we were exploring the City Center. We visited Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. One of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world, built in the early 20th century as a memorial to Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War. The Entrance Fee is free but donations will be appreciated. 📍pl. "Sveti Aleksandar Nevski", 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia We also visited the St. Sofia Church. The second oldest church in Sofia, dating back to the 6th century. It gave the city its name. If you want to visit the church, see the interior of the church, you will need to pay for Entrance Fee: BGN 6 (approximately €3). As for us, we just walked around the churh only. 📍ul. "Parizh" 2, 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia After walking around the church, we visited a restaurant nearby, Made in Home. They served Bulgarian and Mediterranean food. All the food were very good and the price range was around €10-€20 per person. Which is very reasonable as the food and services were both really good. 📍ul. "Angel Kanchev" 30A, 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia We also visited the National Art Gallery & Ethnographic Museum. Housed in the former royal palace, these museums showcase Bulgarian art and culture. We paid for the rntrance fee of BGN 6 (approximately €3). Very worth as you can see many art pieces inside 😍 📍pl. "Knyaz Aleksandar I" 1, 1000 Sofia Center, Sofia We also went to Boyana Church ⛪️ A UNESCO World Heritage site, this medieval Bulgarian Orthodox church features stunning frescoes from the 13th century. The rntrance fee was BGN 10 (approximately €5), slightly higher as compared to other church. But it is definitely worth to visit and we were amazed my the interior design of the church. 📍ul. "Boyansko Ezero" 3, 1616 Sofia Would also like to recommend my favorite restaurant in Sofia, Victoria Boyan. They served Italian and European. Their service was so good. The lady recommended us not only food but places to visit in Sofia. Do try out their dessert 🍨 after meal. It was really delicious 😍😍😍 It was around €15-€30 per person and we think it was reasonable. 📍ul. "Ivanitsa Danchev" 24, 1616 Sofia We also went to National Museum of History. The largest museum in Bulgaria, showcasing the country's history from prehistoric times to the present. The entrance fee was BGN 10 (approximately €5). We all really love to visit historical sites and museums so my recommendations are mostly historical related 😂 Last but not least, I would also recommend you to visit Vitosha Boulevar. Sofia's main shopping street, ideal for a leisurely stroll, shopping, and “people-watching”. Sofia Center is the city’s cultural and political hub. It’s known for grand neoclassical buildings like the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers, which overlook formal green spaces such as City Garden. Gold-domed Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a symbol of Bulgarian independence. Concerts and plays draw big audiences at venues like the Ivan Vazov National Theater and National Palace of Culture. Positives are definitely flexible and helpful front desk team. However hotel still remembers previous era (even though we received renovated room on 9th floor). Located In the sleek towers with views of the Vitosha Mountains, this upmarket hotel is 2 km from Sofia International Airport and 9 km from the National Art Gallery. Perfect location for travellers from and to Sofia airport, both for business and pleasure. We were pleasantly surprised for being upgraded to an apartment without extra fees simply because the hotel reception thought we would feel more comfortable in a larger area. The rooms were very clean, spacious and there was e fantastic view of the mountains and the city. The shuttle service was available when needed and the restaurant staff and chef made sure the food arrived quickly and it was both delicious and enough for the price we were expected to pay. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere during a long journey from Europe to North America. We are truly grateful for the experience at the hotel. Banya Bashi Mosque (Bulgarian: Баня баши джамия, Banya bashi dzhamiya; Turkish: Banya Başı Camii) is a mosque in Sofia, Bulgaria. The mosque was designed by the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan and completed in 1566, during the years the Ottomans had control of the city. The mosque derives its name from the phrase Banya Bashi, which means many baths. In the Turkish language Banyo means bath and Baş (pronounced Bash) means 'head' or 'main', so looking at the location it is built on, a more logical translation of the name would be 'Head of the bath mosque'. The City Garden (Bulgarian: Градска градина, Gradska gradina) is Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria's oldest and most central public garden, in existence since 1872. It is located between Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard to the north, Knyaz Alexander Battenberg Street to the west and Joseph Vladimirovich Gourko Street to the south, in the historical centre of the city. Originally arranged in the last years of the Ottoman rule of Bulgaria, it was radically transformed immediately after the Liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 and the choice of Sofia as the capital the following year under the city architect Antonín Kolář on the initiative of the temporary governor Pyotr Alabin. The alley network was reorganized, new plants were added, as well as a low wooden fence, a coffeehouse and a kiosk for musicians.
