Some of the most famous mausoleums found in this group of Han Dynasty tombs—large and small—include Emperor Yuan of Han, the grandson of Emperor Gaozu of Han, and his empress. The tomb of Emperor Yuan is located on the south side of Yongcheng's Mangdang Mountain. Emperor Yuan was also known as Liang Xiao and Liu Wu. He was the second son of Emperor Wen of Han. He was recorded in history as Liang Xiao after his death. The tomb is shaped like a mountain and is hidden under stones. The door of the tomb faces to the east. The tomb of Liang Xiao's empress includes many grave goods, which were items very much like those that would have been used in her daily life. Between Liang Xiao's tomb and the tomb of the empress, there is a underground passage called the "Huangquan (Yellow Spring) Path." This is the road the souls of Liang Xiao and his empress would have traveled following their deaths. It is said that when later generations referred to "the fate of Huangquan" or the "Huangquan Path" that this is the origin of the phrase.
