The Academician Park, which the people of Ningbo take pride in, has an environment similar to Northern Europe
As of 2023, Ningbo, Zhejiang, has 122 academicians from Ningbo, maintaining the number one position among prefecture-level cities in China for many years, truly making it the 'Hometown of Academicians'. Yinzhou has 45 academicians from Yinzhou, accounting for more than one-third of the total.
Academicians are a cultural calling card that Ningbo is proud of. The Ningbo Academician Center is built by the Dongqian Lake, the Academician Forest is opened by the Moon Lake, and the Academician Park, built to commemorate the academicians, is located in the western part of the Southern Higher Education Park in Yinzhou District, surrounded by many universities.
The park contains 86 sculptures of Ningbo-born academicians and was opened to the public in July 2005. One would think it should be a park rich in cultural atmosphere, but in reality, it mainly wins with its natural scenery. Academician Park and Yinzhou Park are known as the two 'green lungs' of Yinzhou District, and it is indeed hard to separate the two.
Walking into the narrow Academician Park, one sees a clear river running through the middle, with many different colored water lilies planted in the river. On both sides of the small river, the continuous lawns undulate like waves, the woods are lush, and occasionally dotted with some exquisite garden landscapes. The tall buildings in the distance are resplendent, and the park environment is quite similar to that of Northern Europe.
This is a treasure park in Ningbo, which can become extremely popular several times a year. Cherry blossoms, tulips, peach blossoms, plum blossoms, crabapples, peonies, big-leaf plum blossoms, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas take turns dominating the social media. Especially the chrysanthemum exhibition, which has become an annual flower viewing event in Academician Park.
