Spent the weekend running around a mountain temple in Zhangzhou. 1,500 stairs up the side of the mountain is this temple that, surprisingly, wasn’t too busy despite the holiday. It may not have been perfect conditions for a clear view of the ling tong temple - or the mountain it’s on - but the rolling mist was perfect for moody shots. Only 45 minute drive from Jimei this is a great location for a day trip. Drive up to the base of the trail and then walk the 4-5km loop. Several side trails make for a variety of difficulties of hiking. One area has a rock that is too narrow for an adult male to squeeze through so you either hike around or climb up! Several tunnels and vertical staircases make for an exhilarating experience and top it all off with spectacular views.

We decided to go to a park in Zhangzhou. It is one of the best parks here. It has a big pond, a lot of big trees probably they are Bonsai trees? I'm not sure about that it's just in my country, bonsai could be a plant or a tree. Many kids were playing and having fun. Adults were playing cards too and Chinese chess. The bridges in the middle of the pond is quite attractive and also the dragons figure at the entrance. We just stayed there approximately 30 minutes. There are small boats too but that time we went we couldn't use them. You should eat first or bring your own food and drinks. Shopping - You can also shop around. There are malls nearby the park so it's good after you stroll around the park then you can go shopping. I have only seen one church in Zhangzhou which is this one. It is located at 39 Xinhua North Road, Xiancheng District, Zhangzhou. This church can easily be seen since it's just along the road. I like the exterior of this church and it's triangular shape. You can see intersections around the corner and many cars parked around this area too. Well, I didn't get in so I'm not sure what to see inside. This church is quite eye catching. Tulou (土楼) are massive round or square earthen buildings constructed by Hakka people throughout south China, particularly in inland Fujian. Built for residential and defensive purposes, they were home to one or more clans comprising several families, with individual apartments facing inwards to a common courtyard. Some are still inhabited nowadays while others are in poor condition, but they're now one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area and well worth visiting. Getting There - The tulou are scattered throughout the countryside, so it's difficult to visit them without a car. We took the train from Xiamen to Nanjing (南靖 — not to be confused with the former capital Nanjing 南京) where we found many drivers. We negotiated a route and price with one driver, who took us first to a guesthouse (not included in the price) and then on an excellent one day tour of several Hakka villages. This was probably the most flexible way to see the area without our own car and the price was reasonable. Note that it's also necessary to buy a ticket to the tulou area; the funds raised by these passes supposedly go towards preservation of the ancient buildings. Attractions - As well as the tulou, there are ancient temples and high terraced fields, making this a great place for photography. Hotels - There are many guesthouses and small hotels in the area, including some inside tulou themselves. We stayed in the hotel recommended by our driver, which was clean and comfortable and run by a very friendly local couple. Food & Restaurants - Many guesthouses offer food and there are many other restaurants catering for the crowds of tourists who visit this area. Shopping - Inside the tulou many families have opened small shops selling tea and other local produce, handicrafts and knick-knacks. The Tulou Scenic Area is distributed in a circular shape with a diameter of 10Km. The most famous ones are Tianluokeng Tulou Group, Dongpu West Lean Yuchang Building, Hekeng Tulou Building, Huaiyuan Building, Hegui Building and Taxia Village. The name of the Tianluokeng Tulou Group originated in the 1960s. The satellite photos taken in the United States mistaken the five earthen buildings in Tianluokeng as China's nuclear reactors, causing the international community to be at a loss. Yuchang Building (also known as the East Downed West Tower) was built in the late Yuan Dynasty and the early Ming Dynasty (about 1368) and is said to be the oldest and largest round building. It has a height of 5 layers and 18.2 meters. There are 54 rooms in each floor. There are 270 rooms in total, covering an area of 2,289 square meters and a building area of 6358.2 square meters. There is a Guanyin temple in the middle. The ground is covered with uneven stone roads and it is as close as it is to hear it telling its own history.
