Jiufeng Mountain Scenic Area in Ningbo is located at the easternmost end of the Jiangnan continental shelf. It is a branch of the Taibai Mountain of the Tiantai Mountains, with overlapping peaks and ridges, and nine peaks, hence the name. The main peak, with an altitude of 499 meters, is called the top of Jiufeng Mountain. The water from the top of Jiufeng Mountain flows down several canyons to the foot of the mountain. The water on the east side flows into Ruiyan Lake, the water on the northwest side forms Wang'ao Creek, and the canyon on the southwest side is called Badakeng, and the village at the foot of the mountain is also named after it. The most classic hiking route in Jiufeng Mountain is to start from the Badakeng Villa Area in Chengwan, climb all the way along Badakeng to the top of Jiufeng Mountain at 499 meters, and then go down along Wang'ao Creek to the exit of Wang'ao Scenic Area in the northwest direction. The whole journey is 6.5 kilometers, with a total ascent of 420 meters and a total descent of 459 meters. It takes about three hours and is a very easy route suitable for all ages. The name Badakeng probably comes from the fact that the creek forms eight natural creek pits. In the local people's narrative, these eight creek pits are deeply bound to the eight immortals of the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, and each pit has a story of an immortal playing. However, in summer, it is indeed quite suitable to bring children here to play in the water. There is almost no scenery along the canyon, and you can walk all the way to the pass. It is only a 5-minute walk from the peak. A slightly exaggerated viewing platform has been built on the peak, with the design concept of lotus, lotus leaf, and lotus seed pod, and the "nine" of Jiufeng Mountain is implanted in the viewing platform. The lotus petals are "nine big and nine small", and "nine lotus seeds" are set in the center. It is said that when the weather is good, standing on the top of Jiufeng Mountain, you can look east to the Zhoushan Islands, look south to Xiangshan Port, look west to Ningbo City, and look north to Hangzhou Bay. However, although the weather was good that day, there was a layer of haze in the air that was not very transparent, and the visibility was not high, so even the East China Sea not far away was almost hidden behind a layer of yellowish curtain. However, the continuous mountains, cities, and dotted reservoirs, the scenery on the top of the mountain is still undoubtedly the best of the day. The viewing platform on the top of the mountain is part of the Jiufeng Mountain Wang'ao Scenic Area. The barbed wire is under construction now, and it is unknown whether it will be possible to enter the scenic area from Badakeng in the future. It is still possible at present. Then go down the mountain along Wang'ao Creek and the stone steps of the scenic area. To be honest, the scenery of this scenic area is also very ordinary, but it is a little better than that of Badakeng, and there are several waterfalls worth seeing along the way. At the foot of the mountain is Meiyuan, a very famous plum blossom viewing place in Ningbo, stretching across the entire valley, but the flowering period has not yet arrived!
