When I visited in autumn, I was surrounded by the village's thatched-roof houses amidst a sea of orange and red maple leaves. Shirakawa-go is a village with a Japanese fairytale style, brimming with the rustic charm of the countryside. Walking through Shirakawa-go brings a sense of peace; the village's natural beauty is stunning, leaving visitors with fond memories. The air here is fresh, and the water is crystal clear.

It's about a 15-minute walk from Gero Onsen to Gassho Village. Unlike Shirakawa-go, there is an admission fee of 1,000 yen (for adults), but it's worth it for the impressive sights. Inside the buildings, there are exhibits placed around, and the lifestyle of the past is preserved as it was. The footbath located in the center of Gassho Village is fantastic. It was very pleasant, especially in the cold of winter! Towels cost 200 yen, so if you're staying at a hot spring inn, it might be a good idea to bring the small towel you receive there!

Gero Onsen Gassho Village is a tourist attraction that combines traditional Japanese culture, hot springs, and gourmet food. Gero Onsen, along with Arima Onsen and Kusatsu Onsen, is known as one of the three major hot spring towns in Japan. Gero Onsen Gassho Village is not part of Gero Onsen Town, but it is located in the Gero Onsen area. Gero Onsen is a genuine natural hot spring where hot spring water with a temperature as high as 84 degrees gushes out from the ground. The water is weakly alkaline, simple in composition, colorless and transparent, accompanied by a light and soft aroma. Lightly covering the skin can make the skin as smooth as silk. In Gero Onsen Gassho Village, you can visit various Shirakawa-go Gassho-style buildings, appreciate the culture and crafts of the Hida region, and taste local specialties. There is also a small museum in the village that displays local history and culture. You can also take a hot spring bath in the village. There are many hot spring facilities to choose from. Opening hours: Sunday to Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Ticket strategy: Admission ticket is 800 yen. Address: 2369 Mori, Gero City, Gifu Prefecture. Transportation strategy: Take a public bus from JR Gero Station for 6 minutes, and walk for about 25 minutes.

Every season of the year, it presents different scenery, cherry blossoms are in full bloom, grass is fragrant, autumn wind is dawn, winter snow is white. Whether it's wandering between various shrines or resting in different tea rooms, it's a great experience. You can also soak your feet in the Gassho foot bath to soothe your tired body.
