Recently, I discovered that the previous Uncle Thai Noodle Shop was gone, replaced by this restaurant that specializes in laksa. They serve the same menu all day, and the prices are quite reasonable, with a meal for two costing around $200 without any service charge. Soft Shell Crab Laksa $78 The laksa soup base has a strong coconut flavor, it's not spicy at all, rather sweet. The noodles are a mix of rice vermicelli and oil noodles, which hold the sauce well and are a good match. Additionally, some fried garlic makes the soup base even more aromatic, with a small amount of bean sprouts, and the fried whole soft shell crab is quite eye-catching. Vietnamese Train Head $63 In comparison, this bowl's soup base is clearer. The 'train head' includes fatty beef, beef tripe, beef balls, and pork balls. The noodles chosen were rice noodles, flavored with onions, fried garlic, and chili, with a slight spiciness. For an additional $18, you can get a side dish with your meal, so I ordered two kinds. Malaysian Curry Chicken Puff Fried until puffy, with a strong curry flavor. Vietnamese Sugar Cane Shrimp Shrimp paste wrapped around sugar cane, haven't had it in a while so I ordered a portion. Coconut Ice (with meal $19) I thought it was just coconut milk with ice, but it turned out to be a frothy mix of coconut flesh, coconut milk, and ice. Drinking it, you get bits of coconut flesh, and it's quite fragrant and smooth, personally recommended!
