Jam-packed fun in the city! This trip was all about joining the drum and lyre competition 🥁🎺 and exploring a few urban highlights. The best part? Meeting awesome locals (even the police were in on the fun!) and coming away with some real-deal tips for future drumline pros.
Top Spots to Visit & Things to Do:
Tourist Information Center – Start your adventure here! Not only is it the top spot for everything maps/insider tips, but it's also THE photo-op zone (trust me—our crew got a killer group shot with our drums, and yes, even the local police joined in). Make this your meetup hub before heading to your event.
The Drum & Lyre Competition Venue – Check event specifics online or at the tourist center for address and timings. Arrive early: it gives you a chance to warm up, scope out the competition, and vibe with other performers. Pro tip: Uniformed police keep things smooth, and are super friendly for any logistics help.
Inside Scoop: Always confirm your instrument/gear is venue-approved before competition time—some places have extra security, so earlier check-in saves you trouble. Take group photos post-event with locals and officials; not only is it a memory, but it gets you noticed on event socials!
Getting Around: Most attractions are walkable and public transport is straightforward

Pasay is a traveler’s launchpad to Manila with some seriously cool views and fun vibes! 🛬😎 Ocean Park Manila totally grabbed my attention—it’s a must for anyone wanting epic visuals, quirky sea creatures, and a bunch of Insta-worthy moments.
Top Spots to Visit in Pasay:
1. Ocean Park Manila: South Drive, Luneta, Manila. Open 10am–8pm. Don’t miss the glass tunnel or the outdoor pools for the ultimate photos and super chill experience!
2. Ninoy Aquino International Airport: Whether you’re flying in (like I did, on my flight from Zamboanga!), it’s the perfect jump-off point. Quick tip: Download your trip.com confirmation before arrival for seamless check-in and zero stress.
Travel Hacks:
Getting Around: Grab a taxi or use the local jeepneys to zip around Pasay. For airport runs, stick to official airport taxis to avoid scams.
Food: Don’t skip local eats! Try “sisig” or “adobo” at food kiosks in Ocean Park or ask airport staff for their fave nearby carinderia.
Tips: Snap lots of pics at Ocean Park—there are great spots near the main tank. And make sure to keep cash handy (small bills!) for food stalls and transport.
Pro Insight: Booking with trip.com made my flight a breeze. Keeping your confirmation on hand speeds up everything at Manila airport.
