Jiuxian Village, Zhanjiang, Guangdong

Jiuxian Village is located in Huguang Town, Mazhang District, Zhanjiang. Its history can be traced back to the 10th year of the Sui Dynasty (590 AD), when the county seat of Tieba County was established in what is now Jiuxian Village. In the second year of the Tang Dynasty (628 AD), Shansha and Shanchuan counties were merged into Tieba County. In the second year of the Tang Dynasty (742 AD), Tieba County was renamed Suixi County, and the county seat was still located in Jiuxian Village. Subsequently, in the fifth year of the Song Dynasty (972 AD), Suixi County was merged into Haikang County, and the county seat was moved. Since then, Jiuxian Village has existed as a county seat for 382 years, and has gradually evolved into a village and was named Jiuxian Village. Jiuxian Village not only has a long history, but also retains many ancient sites and cultural heritage. The Taishan Mansion in the village is an ancient temple of the Tang Dynasty, covering an area of about 300 square meters. There are two soft-bodied statues in the temple, and a iron bell from the 54th year of Qianlong (1789 AD) is preserved in the temple, which has high archaeological value. In addition, Jiuxian Village also preserves many ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as the Peng Clan Ancestral Hall, the former site of the Tieba County Yamen, and the Huyan Ancestral Hall. These buildings not only show the historical changes of Jiuxian Village, but also reflect the local culture and architectural style. The village is also famous for its Nuo dance performances.
