On December 6, 2024, I dragged my heavy suitcase out of the Yuxi Intercity Train, and this exclamation slipped out of my mouth. The cool breeze was fresh and moist, and it went straight into my lungs. Later, I learned that Yuxi is a sanitary city, and it truly lives up to its reputation. Yuxi is a place full of energy. In the past, when I traveled alone to other cities, even in bustling streets, I always felt a sense of loneliness and isolation. But in Yuxi, even when watching the sunset on the large lawn of Hongta Mountain in the evening, with few people around, or during the quiet daytime at Jiulongchi Park, I felt a sense of peace. The streets are wide, smooth, and straight, with well-maintained tactile paving, lush greenery, a sky as blue as a gemstone, and clouds hanging leisurely on the mountain tops. As I walked, I unexpectedly came across a washbasin by the roadside, as well as designated smoking areas. The ground was so clean that it was hard to find even a piece of paper, and public restrooms were easy to find, with prominent "City Public Restroom" signs. The attention to detail in Yuxi is impressive, and I felt like I was there to inspect the city's achievements and residents' happiness. I visited places like "Xiaomiao Street," "Nie Er's Former Residence," and "Hongta Mountain Park," and I could feel the friendliness of the locals everywhere. When I had my first meal at Yuchunyuan on Xiaomiao Street, I was puzzled by the braised rice noodles. The lady taking my order not only patiently explained it to me at the serving counter but also advised me not to order too much. After the meal, she came to check how I liked it and suggested I come back the next day to try something else. The service at this popular restaurant was truly surprising. Yuxi is like a treasure trove of surprises, with every page filled with delightful discoveries. Traveling alone here is full of comfort and warmth.
