Wuyuan Flower Viewing and Greenery Trip Report | Off-the-beaten-path Northern Villages - Qinghua and Xinyuan

Rainbow Bridge is located in Qinghua Town, Wuyuan, originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty. It is a covered bridge with stone piers and a brick-and-wood structure. Unfortunately, in July 2020, the Rainbow Bridge was partially destroyed by a flood, which washed away two galleries and a pavilion, three main beams, and many wooden components downstream. Despite efforts to recover most of them, the majority of the components were damaged. After about a year of reconstruction and restoration, the Rainbow Bridge was reopened on May Day 2021. Next to the Rainbow Bridge is a stone slab footbridge that is level with the water surface. The uneven stone surface and the significant height difference on either side of the footbridge make the water flow rapidly, testing the balance of those who cross it. However, taking photos on the side facing the water can capture one's reflection in the frame, creating a picturesque scene with the distant rapeseed fields. Xinyuan Village is not much of a tourist spot, but the main attraction is the old ancestral hall in the village center - the Yu Family Ancestral Hall. It is a family ancestral hall built during the Qing Dynasty, dedicated to the worship of ancestors and sages of the Yu family. It was funded by Yu Yinglun, a high-ranking official (of the third rank), who built it after returning to his hometown from the palace. The Yu Family Ancestral Hall consists of three courtyards and is well-preserved. The interior carvings are exquisite and the hall is known as the 'Palace of Art' and 'Treasure House of Wood Carving', making it worth a visit. It is not far from Qinghua, and friends who drive or charter a car can choose to visit both places, with no admission fee for this site. 🚄Transportation: Take the high-speed train to Wuyuan Station, turn right out of the station for the shuttle bus. Each scenic spot is quite far apart, so if you want to visit several spots, you can choose to charter a car or rent a car, with a charter price of 450 yuan per day (off-season price, it increases during peak season). 🎫Ticket: A single scenic spot ticket is 60 yuan per person, and a package ticket for 11 spots is 150 yuan. Nearby northern attractions like Likeng, Fengshan, Sixi Yancun, and more are worth visiting if time allows.
