Gorgeous bakery in Vilnius 🇱🇹 serving local food.

#myhiddengems In Vilnius, I discovered a charming dessert spot renowned for its local Lithuanian baked goods. Among their delights, the fried curd donuts, or “varškės spurgos” were an absolute standout. These golden, pillowy treats are crafted from fresh curd cheese, giving them a rich, creamy texture that's perfectly complemented by a crispy exterior. Lightly dusted with powdered sugar, each bite offers a sweet, tangy flavor that's both indulgent and comforting. The bakery’s inviting atmosphere and attention to detail made my visit even more memorable. With its warm, cozy ambiance and delectable offerings, this Vilnius gem provides a delightful taste of Lithuanian culinary traditions. Sampling these curd donuts was a highlight of my trip, showcasing the unique and delicious flavors of Lithuanian cuisine in a truly delightful setting. #summerineurope #eatlikealocal

#thegatesofdawn is one of the most visited shrines in #vilnius that is famous not only in $Lithuania but also abroad, worshipped by the representatives of other creeds too. This is the only surviving gate of the first original five gates in the city wall that was built between 1503 and 1522. The painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, in the Chapel of the Gates of Dawn is known all over the world. The picture, which is also called “Vilnius Madonna”, was painted in 17th century. It is painted in the Renaissance style, in tempera on oak boards, later repainted in oil. Since the middle of the 17th century it has been said to have miracle-working powers. #unforgetabletrip #church #happynewyear

One's of the #most famous #vilnius landmarks is #st.AnneChurch that starts with the alleged construction in the 14th century but the current Gothic masterpiece is believed to have been built between 1495 and 1500 to a design by the Bohemian architect Benedikt Rejt (1453-1534), most famous for designing parts of Prague Castle. Visiting in 1812, Napoleon famously noted that he wanted to take the building back to Paris on the palm of his hand #lithuania #unforgetabletrip #church #happynewyear

#vilnius Town Hall Square was built in 1387 when #lithuania became a Christian state and Vilnius was granted Magdeburg rights. Thus, there appeared a need for headquarters for the city authorities. As the main square of the city was located here, it was decided to build the Town Hall in the same place. #unforgetabletrip #oldtown #happynewyear
