Emerald Hill: Peranakan culture on display

Brimming with influence from the Chinese baroque and European style in its Architecture, Emerald Hill is a secret treasure hiding in the corner of our beloved national shopping district, Orchard Road. The history of Emerald Hill dates back to 1837 when it was supposed to be a nutmeg and fruit Orchard and the Terrace houses only started until the 1900 in its original form as we see today. The current Emerald Hill is still a residential area for some and it has also turned some into shop houses of bars fueling those with the thirst of the Happy Hour, jewellery store along with others and the giant buildings of Singapore’s famous shopping district wrapped around this hill. #cityscapes
