✅ Quanzhou is a historical and cultural city that I really like. On July 25, 2021, Quanzhou's 'Song-Yuan China's World Maritime Trade Center' was approved by the 44th World Heritage Committee and successfully included in the 'World Cultural Heritage List'. Kaiyuan Temple is one of the 22 representative ancient monuments. ✅ Must experience: 🌿 Kaiyuan Temple was founded in the second year of the Chuigong era during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty (686 AD), originally named Lotus Dojo. In the 26th year of the Kaiyuan era of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang (738 AD), it was renamed Kaiyuan Temple. It was the largest and most prominent official Buddhist temple in Quanzhou during the Song and Yuan dynasties. ✅ Personally, I think Kaiyuan Temple is a must-visit when traveling to Quanzhou. 🌟 Highlights: 🌿 Kaiyuan Temple is located on West Street in Licheng District, Quanzhou City. It is a very important cultural relic along the southeast coast of our country and is now the largest Buddhist temple in Fujian Province. The main existing temples were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. ✅ The area of Kaiyuan Temple is quite large, and there are many places worth seeing. 🌟 Highlights: 🌿 The Heavenly King Hall is the mountain gate of Kaiyuan Temple. The existing building was constructed during the Republic of China. The stone pillars are in Tang Dynasty style, and there is a wooden couplet hanging above that reads 'This place is known as the Buddha's land, and the streets are full of saints.' This couplet was written by Zhu Xi of the Southern Song Dynasty and calligraphed by the modern monk Hong Yi. 🌿 The east and west towers are also quite famous. The one on the east is the Zhen Guo Pagoda, and the one on the west is the Ren Shou Pagoda, both over 40 meters high. They are also the symbols of the ancient city of Quanzhou. Walking on West Street, you can always see the two towers, and there is a sense of emotion in your heart. 🌿 The Mahavira Hall, also known as the Purple Cloud Hall, is known as the 'Hall of a Hundred Pillars'. 🌿 Behind the Mahavira Hall is the Sweet Dew Precept Platform, which was originally built during the Song Dynasty and rebuilt at the end of the Ming Dynasty. It is one of China's three major precept platforms, along with the Jie Tai Temple Precept Platform in Beijing and the Zhaoqing Temple Precept Platform in Hangzhou. 🌿 There are also the Quanzhou Buddhist Museum and the Hong Yi Master Memorial Hall that you should go in and take a look at.
