Muddy hike - Mt Kerinci , Indonesia

Not to take this lightly. The hike up is challenging, there is no proper stepping aid , your based on your judgement to which are the best hedge, roots or path to climb up. 5 stop station but no proper lavatories, all going down to business in nature:) The last hike up is the most steep, going up and also descending down. Worst if you are caught in the rain. The mud is fine ..mostly volcanic ash ...goes in thru your pants :) At the landing zone before submit, camp ground prepared by guide, prepare for a hard night rest :) Cold ..surprisingly to me then (mid May) it was not as cold as mt kinabalu. Descending down the next day is another level of treacherous hike. It was raining mostly throughout the day ...the longest hike I had ever encountered, 18hrs (10am - 5am the next day) one of our friends got caught and twisted his knee, the descending was slow and easy. We reached base camp safe but tired..it was a great experience for us all.
