Ancestral Hall Recommendations

Qiaoxiang Village is made up of three natural villages. It is named after the fact that 90% of the villagers are overseas Chinese. The overseas Chinese in the village have been living there for generations and are now spread across 54 countries and regions. Qiaoxiang Village has 94 traditional dwellings and 11 ancestral halls, with the "weilongwu" being the most distinctive. There are also "zoumalou" and "suotouwu" with "hegang" to "duogang." This time, I visited the famous "Nanhua Youlu," commonly known as "Tianxinwei," which was built by overseas Chinese Pan Xiangchu in the 30th year of the Guangxu period of the Qing dynasty (1904). It has "ten halls and nine wells," and the left and right sides of the main house are made up of eight buildings, with a total of 118 rooms. It has pavilions and attics. Chengde Hall, commonly known as "Wuganglou," was built in the 30th year of the Guangxu period (1904). It is a five-gang-style weilongwu building with a hard mountain facade and a concave-style gatehouse, which is both unique and intimate. Dexin Hall, commonly known as "Maziyuan," was built in the 28th year of the Guangxu period (1902). It has two halls, four horizontal and two weilongwu, making full use of the hilly slope terrain. Most of them are inhabited, and some of the weilongwu behind the hall are still being repaired. I especially like the "Huanyun Building" with its Western-style architecture.
