Pingyuan Renju Vault is located on Dongmen Street, Renju Town, Pingyuan County, Meizhou, Guangdong Province. It takes about 1 hour and 4 minutes to drive from Tiandiren Garden Hotel, a total of 86.6 km, passing through Tianxing Interchange and Zhongshan South Street. 1. Construction background and time: - The vault was originally called Qinlou, built in the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936 AD) by a local named Li Ziqin. It was later rebuilt into a vault for the four major banks of Guangdong in the 33rd year of the Republic of China (1944 AD). 2. Building structure: - The vault is a three-story building with a basement and a frame structure, which is extremely rare in the Republic of China. The first and second floors are halls; the first floor of the northwest side is the vault guard room, the second floor is the lower half of the vault charcoal layer, and the upper half is the vault; the first floor of the second floor is the office, the second floor is the sand room; the third floor is the room. - The vault wall is divided into three layers, the inner layer is made of reinforced concrete, the middle layer is sandwiched with sand, and the outer layer is made of solid brick and soil. The third floor has an open-air balcony on the front and a balcony on the north side. - The building has only one door for entry and exit, and there is no window in the vault. For ventilation and heat dissipation, more than 30 round ventilation holes are drilled on the building. The inner end of the ventilation hole is blocked by a steel column as thick as an arm, and the outer end is covered with iron wire mesh. - There are also several gun holes hidden between the floors that are difficult to find outdoors, so that the guards can shoot from the inside out to block the only entrance to the vault. 3. Historical significance: - In January 1945, Qujiang fell, and the vaults of the four major banks, the Central Bank, the Bank of China, the Bank of Communications, and the Farmers Bank, moved to Pingyuan with the Guangdong Provincial Government. They did not move back to Guangzhou until September 1945 after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. The transfer of the vault played an important role in stabilizing the financial situation in the rear and resisting the invasion of the Japanese invaders. 4. Current situation: - After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was once the location of the Pingyuan Branch of the People's Bank of China, the Renju Business Office of the Pingyuan Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China, and the Renju Town Central Kindergarten. It was purchased by the Pingyuan County Tourism Bureau in August 2002 and developed into a tourist attraction in December 2004. Now it displays various ancient coins, ancient coins, old banknotes of the four major banks of the Republic of China, ancient ceramics, Hakka daily necessities, etc. for tourists to enjoy.
