Lhasa, Tibet, Norbulingka

Norbulingka is the largest, most scenic, and most historic garden in Tibet, located in the western suburbs of Lhasa. It was founded by the Seventh Dalai Lama and is a place where the Dalai Lamas of all generations have spent their summers and governed. It is a typical Tibetan-style garden. Not only does it have common flowers and trees in the Lhasa area, but it also has strange flowers and grasses from the southern and northern foothills of the Himalayas, as well as precious flowers transplanted from the mainland or introduced from abroad, making it a plateau botanical garden. The buildings are mainly composed of Gesang Pozhang, Golden Pozhang, and Datan Mingjiu Pozhang. Each group of buildings is divided into three main parts: the palace area, the area in front of the palace, and the forest area. All the buildings are made of wood and stone as the main materials, and they are well planned and have a distinct Tibetan architectural style. The walls of the main halls are all painted with exquisite murals.
