2024 Hong Kong Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in December)
Known for being a world-class center of business, culture, and trade, Hong Kong is a jewel in the orient with international flairs. Its iconic skyline, dynamic food scene and multicultural influences attract over 65 million tourists each year. For many, Hong Kong is also a starting point for visiting China and the rest of Asia.Officially the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong is located on the south coast of China, neighboring Guangzhou Province. It is made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories (including more than 250 outlying islands). Ranked as the 8th most densely populated city in the world, Hong Kong’s population is made up of mainly Chinese residents. But it is also an international hub of commerce where English and Cantonese are the official languages.Hong Kong wouldn’t be what it is today without its complex past. Though it has existed for thousands of years, in as little as 100 years, Hong Kong went through dramatic transformations from a fishing community in China to a British colony to an international trade center, and eventually back to being part of China again.Like its dense population, Hong Kong has also packed in a tremendous amount of attractions. For example, you can visit one of the city's oldest temples, Man Mo Temple; ride on the Peak Tram for a bird’s eye view of Victoria Harbor; or immerse yourself in the electric atmosphere of Temple Street Night Market. Beyond the urban hustle and bustle, there’s a serene side to Hong Kong. Chill out on the beach in the Sai Kung East Country Park, enjoy a challenging hike on Lantau island’s many trekking trails, or do a little wildlife spotting in Plover Cove Country Park. The most common way to reach Hong Kong is by air. The Hong Kong International Airport has connecting flights to all major domestic and international cities. Visitors can easily find transfer options into different parts of HK, such as taxis, Airport Express trains, and buses. Some hotels offer transfer options too, so it is better to check in advance. Getting around town is also simple and convenient. Visitors can easily reach top attractions by using the extensive and affordable MRT, bus and tram systems.

The Free Tunnel of Falling Gold Coins
This design is perfect for mainland visitors to take photos. It brings good luck during Christmas and Lunar New Year, and the floating gold coins create an interactive experience. Don't miss the interior design, as the building was designed by the world-renowned award-winning architect Zaha Hadid, even the toilets are works of art!
Transportation and Location: Central, The Henderson. The exterior is unique, and after taking photos with the Bank of China Tower, the Old Legislative Council Building, and the Cheung Kong Center, you can reach this golden tunnel via the pedestrian bridge!
Nearby Food: Afternoon tea/buffet at The Murray Hotel is exquisite and feels like a European garden. The prices are similar to those in Shenzhen, and the restaurants around are even cheaper!

Pistachio Enthusiasts Recommend This Small Cafe!
When it comes to pistachio products, most people think of various bakeries and dessert shops. However, the Pistachio Enthusiasts Group recently discovered a small cafe that offers unique and high-quality pistachio desserts.
The cafe is located in a small alley in Hung Hom, not very accessible, but there are several small shops around. You can already smell the faint aroma of coffee from the corridor outside. The shop has a dark theme and only nine seats for dine-in, truly a small shop.
Upon entering, you will see a cake display with many handmade pastries. There is also a sign showing their chilled desserts, with over a dozen rich options. There are also savory choices for a light meal.
Pistachio Terrine | $68
This is the main reason for the visit. At first glance, it looks rich in layers. The owner kindly introduces it, which includes pistachio cream, pistachio meringue, and pistachio nuts. The cream is smooth and sweet, the chilled dessert has a texture similar to raw chocolate, and the nuts have a roasted aroma. Each component can be eaten separately or mixed for different experiences. It is truly worth the price.
Peanut Butter Basque | $55
Another recommended item is the Peanut Butter Basque. Following the owner's suggestion, an additional $2 gets you a piece of toast to go with it. You can spread the molten Basque on the bread. The cream cheese and peanut butter are a good match, and the taste is as expected, not overly rich but still good.
Cocoa Husk Tea | $50
For those who don't drink coffee, you can try this cocoa tea. It's the first time to purely experience the cocoa aroma and bitterness. The natural fruity flavor revitalizes the taste buds, making it a great choice between the two desserts.
The Peak Tram at Victoria Peak
Top Choice for Hong Kong Night Views
Victoria Harbour
The Peak Tram in Hong Kong is a must-visit attraction. The scenery during the day and night each has its own charm. This time, I visited during the day and found the view to be really impressive. I believe the night view, with the city lights, would be even more beautiful.
It's also very worthwhile to come up at night, but there will be more people going down, so you might have to wait. Looking forward to visiting again next time.

Savoring Hainan Chicken @ Pak Dang Premium Hainan Chicken Rice
Hainan Chicken Rice is one of Dad's favorite dishes! So, I often keep an eye on the reviews of various Hainan Chicken restaurants. Recently, I saw a friend enjoying a meal at a highly-rated place in Lai Chi Kok, so I decided to give it a try on my day off.
Pak Dang Premium Hainan Chicken Rice is conveniently located in D2 Place, making it easily accessible for us Tung Chung folks.
We ordered the two-person set meal for $228 to share! The set was quite rich, including appetizers, soup, main course, half a Hainan chicken, and a plate of blanched vegetables.
We also ordered drinks separately. Dad, who loves milk tea, chose the King Tea Hong Kong-style milk tea for $20, while I tried the Japanese apple juice for $20.
The soup of the day was a delicious corn, carrot, and pumpkin pork bone soup with no added MSG! The sweet aroma of the vegetables was evident, and it tasted genuinely wholesome.
You can also upgrade the soup to a small Bak Kut Teh for an additional $10! The subtle herbal fragrance was very comforting, and the well-balanced pork ribs were tender and enjoyable.
For the special appetizer, we chose the spicy marinated chicken feet from the three options. The chicken feet were well-marinated with a gentle spiciness and a great texture, making it a perfect starter.
Among the three main course options, we opted for the pan-fried meat patty! It was crispy, not greasy, and had a firm texture. The thickness was just right, making it a perfect match with white rice.
The star of the day, the premium Hainan chicken set, came with half a chicken, perfect for sharing between two people.
The chicken used was a 60-day-old hormone-free and antibiotic-free Ma Huang chicken. The carefully crafted cooking method resulted in crispy skin and tender meat. The golden-yellow chicken skin was smooth and not greasy, while the meat was elastic and extremely tender. The flavor was rich with the aroma of fresh chicken, absolutely delicious.
The three sauces for the Hainan chicken are the soul of the dish! The dark soy sauce was rich and smooth without any bitterness, definitely high quality. The ginger and scallion paste was fragrant and enticing, making it easy to eat a big bowl of white rice. Lastly, the chili sauce, made with various ingredients including Tom Yum, was spicy and flavorful, making one small dish not enough.
The set includes two bowls of rice, with a choice of chicken oil rice or jasmine white rice! The chicken oil rice was dry and not greasy, with a hint of spices, and paired well with the three sauces without being overpowering.
The healthy green vegetable of the day was Chinese lettuce! It looked plain without any oil sheen, but it was surprisingly crisp and flavorful, not needing any oyster sauce to taste great, a pleasant surprise.

Review of the fireworks at Hong Kong Disneyland. They are very beautiful and impressive. Highly recommended, it's a spectacular surprise for the eyes and very heartwarming. The flight tickets are not expensive and the travel is convenient, just a few hours away from Thailand. Plus, Elsa is there now! 🥰🥰 I recommend riding the attractions first and then reserving a front row seat to watch the fireworks. Don't leave your seat, or you'll lose it for sure. This French-style seaside town in Hong Kong really gives off vacation vibes.
Hong Kong is not lacking in places with a European flair.
Besides the previously recommended Discovery Bay,
Stanley is also a place worth visiting.👍
Many people say Stanley is like a little South of France in Hong Kong,
and Stanley is indeed a seaside town far from the hustle and bustle,
where you can feel the romance and relaxation.🏖️
In addition to the iconic yellow house,
and the fairytale-like restaurant Pane e Latte☕️,
strolling along the seaside in Stanley is also a very chill activity.
🌟【Stanley Strolling Guide】🌟
📍Get off at the bus stop and overlook Stanley from the high observation deck.
📍Stanley Plaza (with several budget-friendly restaurants)
📍Murray House (a century-old European classical building)
📍Stanley Blake Pier (great for chatting and enjoying the sea breeze)
📍Stroll along Stanley Main Street (walk from the pier to the iconic yellow house, there are many restaurants with outdoor seating)
📍Stanley Market (locals also find many interesting and beautiful souvenirs👍)
Many people visit Stanley along with Repulse Bay Beach and The Pulse at Repulse Bay, as they are on the same route🚌🚌 but we only visited Stanley this time.
🚌Transportation: Take bus 6/6x/260 from Admiralty Station Exit C1 to Stanley Plaza, the journey takes a little over half an hour.
Hong Kong: Where Adventure Meets Skyline Magic
Having traveled to Hong Kong multiple times over the past five years, I can confidently say this city has a unique energy that draws you back again and again.
The city center is the heart of it all, where towering skyscrapers dominate the skyline, blending modern architecture with hints of colonial charm.
A highlight every visit is Victoria Harbour, where the dazzling skyline reflects on the water, especially during the nightly Symphony of Lights show. It’s a view that never gets old, no matter how many times you’ve seen it.
The busy streets of Hong Kong with crowds of people weave through markets, shops, and restaurants, creating a constant hum of activity that’s both chaotic and exciting. Hong Kong’s charm lies in its ability to balance this intensity with moments of calm—whether it’s a quiet ferry ride across the harbor or a stroll along the Avenue of Stars.
Each trip has been a new adventure, and I can’t wait to return to this vibrant city!

1 DAY IN HONG KONG DISNEYLAND🏰
The number 1 amusement park in my heart must be Disneyland. This time we came to Hong Kong. We intended to play in the new zone, World of Frozen. In this zone, there are 2 rides. Sliding Sleigh is a roller coaster. This one ended a bit too quickly. It's not scary. The other one is Frozen Ever After. It's a boat ride where you can meet Elsa, Anna, and Olaf. The lights are so beautiful.
We played almost 10 rides. We bought fast passes for 3 rides, excluding Frozen. Overall, we didn't have to wait long. We came on a weekday. I really liked Transformer and Big Grizzly. They were so much fun.
The highlight is the fireworks at night. They're so beautiful. Everyone tells stories through images projected on the castle. I was so impressed.
If you come to Hong Kong, don't miss Disneyland.

🇭🇰Hong Kong travel, short trip edition
Hong Kong trip, short trip for 4 days and 3 nights, homebody edition. Where to go and what to do? Let's see!
- On the first day, we arrived in Hong Kong early in the morning and went to pray first. We visited 3-4 famous temples. In the evening, we walked around Avenue of Stars and in front of the Penninsula Hotel.
- On the second day, we stayed at Disneyland all day because we were waiting to see the fireworks. It was so awesome.
- On the third day, we went to various check-in points in Hong Kong. We took the tram to see the view at the peak, took pictures at Tai Kwun, and walked around the central area.
- On the last day, we went shopping for souvenirs and took the Ngong Ping cable car before returning to the airport.
We also visited famous shops each day. If you don't have much time, we recommend coming to Hong Kong. It's easy to travel and doesn't take long to fly. 💗🇭🇰

Lan Fong Yuen in Hong Kong
I visited Lan Fong Yuen in Central many years ago when I first came to Hong Kong. It wasn't as popular back then. This time, I dined at their Tsim Sha Tsui location during lunchtime. Although there was a long queue, the turnover rate was quick, and we were seated in about ten minutes. The Tsim Sha Tsui branch is relatively cleaner and brighter compared to the Central branch.
They offer set meals, and some main courses come with a buttered bun. We ordered the satay beef with fried egg and instant noodles, which came with a buttered bun, and also had French toast. For drinks, we had iced lemon tea and silk-stocking milk tea. The portion of the instant noodles was huge, about 1.5 to 2 servings! It was very filling. The satay beef was tender, and the buttered bun should be eaten quickly before it gets greasy when cold. The French toast was really delicious, not as greasy or sweet as I expected, but it's best eaten hot. The drinks were not too sweet, and the tea flavor was quite prominent.
Overall, I think Lan Fong Yuen is quite good.
Hong Kong Restaurant Luk Yu Tea House
Near Central MTR Station, we arrived at 8 AM for breakfast and there were plenty of seats available. We ordered three dishes: shrimp dumplings, siu mai, and custard buns, and had jasmine tea. The prices are relatively high; our breakfast for three cost around 1500 TWD, but we all agreed that the food was worth it.
The restaurant has a retro wooden decor, and the environment is comfortable, clean, and not crowded. Unlike other places, they don't use hot tea for cleaning.
The shrimp dumplings had large, plump shrimp inside. I usually have a bad habit of only eating the filling of siu mai and leaving the skin, but the skin here was chewy and didn't taste powdery, so I ate it all.
The siu mai was also delicious. I usually worry about a meaty smell, but there was none here, and the skin was thin and tasty.
The custard buns were a surprise. We thought they would be filled with liquid custard, but the staff asked if we wanted them cut open, which made us worry they would spill out. However, the custard filling was solid and not overly sweet or greasy.
We would definitely come back to try other dishes next time we're in Hong Kong.
Having High Tea at a Five-Star Hotel.
Address - 88 Queensway, Admiralty
Environment/Facilities - Very high ceilings and large floor-to-ceiling windows
Features - Five-star hotel quality
Average Price - $250 per person
Rating - 8.5 out of 10
Located atop Pacific Place in Admiralty (MTR hub station), the JW Marriott Hotel is very convenient and surrounded by several other five-star hotels, giving it a very upscale feel. The traditional three-tiered afternoon tea is enjoyed in the buffet restaurant area, which is not crowded, and the staff provides attentive service. The desserts and savory items are evenly split, plus four scones, making for a very generous portion. We couldn't finish it all and had to take some home. The overall taste was quite good, with the scones being very fluffy, the savory items outstanding, and the desserts just right. We leisurely enjoyed our afternoon tea while admiring the bustling street view outside the window.
[Recommended Spots]
Introducing recommended spots in Hong Kong!
From tourist attractions to food, we cover a wide range.
1. Monster Building
Known as the filming location for many movies, the 'Monster Building' is a must-see!
Once you step inside, you'll be amazed by the buildings surrounding you!
It was once off-limits, but the restriction has been lifted as of March 2024.
2. THE PENINSULA Hong Kong
Afternoon tea at the famous Peninsula Hong Kong hotel🫖
Served in the lobby, non-guests can also enjoy it by registering on the same day.
I went straight from the airport to the hotel and managed to get in, even being mistaken for a guest by the bellboy.
Spending time listening to live music was elegant🌹
3. Symphony of Lights
When you think of Hong Kong, you think of the Symphony of Lights…!
There are various ways to enjoy it, such as from the promenade or a cruise.
I watched it from the rooftop of the STARFERRY pier!
4. TRAMIC Tour
A tour around Hong Kong Island on a retro tram.
With an audio guide, you can relax and enjoy the tour✨
You can book it on the official website🙆♀️
The day of the tour and the following day offer unlimited tram rides, so it's recommended for those planning to sightsee by tram👀
5. Street Art
At Hotel Madera Hollywood, there are wall arts of Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe.
There is also Hong Kong Shingo Art painted by Shingo Katori🎨
[Other Points]
There are many attractions like SKY100 and Victoria Peak!
When in Hong Kong, don't miss out on dim sum.
Ordered 7 main dishes, snacks, and drinks in Tsim Sha Tsui for only $210??
After watching a movie at 10 PM in Tsim Sha Tsui, if you want to eat something simple, you don't have to worry about finding a place.
There is a noodle shop behind ISQUARE that is famous for its Beef Tripe and Curry Pot‼️
✨Beef Tripe Rice Noodles $65
It's so funny, my partner finished it in no time. He said the beef tripe was tender.
The soup is mild at first, then comes the beef aroma. The rice noodles are not too strong in flavor, just right with the soup😌
✨Fresh Shrimp Wonton Noodles $38
For those who like a strong alkaline taste🧑🤝🧑, you will like this😌. The portion of noodles is quite large.
The four fresh shrimp wontons are quite bouncy and easy to bite.
✨Vegetables (Choy Sum) $9
It's not cheap to eat vegetables outside nowadays. This special price of $9, what do you think?😆
The key is that it's not fibrous!! The texture is just right~ very suitable for someone eating noodles alone to have a small dish🥬 to be healthy.
✨King Fried Pork Chop $40
It's quite tender~ don't worry about the dark color being too strong in flavor. It's well-seasoned, not fatty, and easy to bite off the bone.
✨Fried Wontons $38
Crunchy~ fried food lovers will like it! The chefs fry the whole wonton until it's hot and crispy.
Be careful when eating, it might be hot. One bite and it's crunchy🥰. The skin is not too thin but fried thoroughly.
✨Iced Milk Tea $11
The tea has a subtle fragrance. For those who are afraid of sweetness, remember to ask for less sugar.
Otherwise, it might cover the milk flavor (but still has a bit of the tea shop feel🤣).
✨Iced Soy Milk $9
It's in a bottle!! It says made in Hong Kong on it~ Only $9 for a big bottle, which is nice and convenient to take away.
But there's no option for less sugar, only a specific sweetness level. So for those who usually prefer unsweetened, you might want to pass on this haahaaha.
The portions are quite large. Don't eat beforehand, or you won't be able to try their other snacks.
Next time, I also want to try their Curry Pot and Pork Knuckles🤤.

Hong Kong🇭🇰 - The night view of Victoria Harbor that you will never tire of
Hong Kong has many islands, and the sea and peninsula overlap to create a layered scenery, so there are many places to enjoy the night view. In addition to visiting the night view of Victoria Harbor, the night view of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong is the top night view on the top of the mountain and should not be missed!
A whole row of buildings with flashing lights, both high and low, are reflected on the sea. This picture can be said to be the signature of Hong Kong, showing the prosperity and charm of Hong Kong. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to say that the night view of Victoria Harbor is one of the most representative views in Hong Kong! 🥰🥰

On Saturdays in November, it's classified as Tier 2. With early park entry, you can enter the park at 9 AM even though it officially opens at 10 AM. Once inside, we headed straight to the Frozen area! Along the way, we reminded each other not to get distracted by empty scenic spots for photos and to prioritize the rides first!
Frozen is a place I've always wanted to visit. Upon entering the area, the Frozen-themed decorations were so beautiful that we couldn't help but exclaim, 'Wow! So pretty!' There are two attractions: Frozen Ever After and Snowy Mountain Sleds. We first went on Frozen Ever After, and the first thing we saw was Olaf! So cute! It brought back all the memories of watching Frozen. Slowly, other characters started to appear, accompanied by some small surprises. Seeing Elsa sing 'Let It Go' was incredibly moving! We even went on it again in the evening while waiting for the light show, with about a 30-minute wait. The other ride, Snowy Mountain Sleds, is a small roller coaster and quite fun.
After finishing with Frozen around 9:30 AM, we quickly took photos with the castle while there were fewer people. We took tons of photos from all angles! After that, we quickly went to ride The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which was also super cute. Lastly, we rode Dumbo the Flying Elephant, enjoying the breeze while spinning in the air.
After 10 AM, the crowd started to build up. We then headed to Tomorrowland and rode Hyperspace Mountain, which made me so dizzy that I almost threw up. Because of this, we skipped the Astro Orbiter and quickly left the area as we weren't very interested in it.
Next, we waited for lunchtime by strolling around Main Street, U.S.A., where we saw Chip and Dale and lined up for photos! When the restaurants opened, we went to the Royal Banquet Hall for lunch. After eating, we watched Mickey and the Wondrous Book, a half-hour show in Cantonese with subtitles. It was very touching and a fantastic performance worth watching. During the wait, we also reserved a spot for the Forest Theater, which featured a Frozen show. It wasn't as impressive or worthwhile. At the Enchanted Candy House, they sold Olaf-shaped ice cream, which was milk-flavored and super cute.
The park's app also has AR features. In the Frozen area, there are two spots where you can take photos or videos with Olaf and Grandpa Pabbie.
Next, we went to Grizzly Gulch for the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars. At first, it didn't seem very thrilling, but just when we thought it was over, it suddenly got exciting and gave us a good scare. Overall, it was very fun!
We then got ice cream with our meal vouchers from a roadside stand. We chose the Minnie Mouse one, with a mango-flavored yellow bow and a strawberry-flavored pink part. It was very sweet. We also saw Minnie Mouse and lined up for photos! So cute!
Next, we went to Mystic Point and rode Mystic Manor. Not knowing much about the cartoon, we found it a bit boring. We then slowly walked to the closed Toy Story Land, admired the decorations, took some photos, and slowly walked back to the castle area. We got caramel-flavored popcorn, which was surprisingly delicious, and waited for the 5:15 PM parade. Initially, we thought the parade started near the entrance, but it actually started near the castle.
After the parade, we had dinner at the River View Cafe. During this time, we learned that due to bad weather, there would be no fireworks, only a light show. After much hesitation, we decided to stay for the light show. To pass the time, we rode Frozen Ever After again, which was still very moving.
Finally, we returned to the castle area to wait for the fireworks. It started raining heavily, and we were unsure whether to give up or wait. We took shelter in a store until the rain stopped just in time for the light show. Despite the rain and fatigue, it was worth staying. Even without fireworks, the light show was spectacular. This Disneyland trip was truly worthwhile and touching!
Disney cartoons carry childhood and teenage memories, especially when visiting Disneyland with friends as an adult. It leaves a lasting impression. After returning home, I kept listening to Disney songs.

Hidden Beautiful Park in Tai Po District

When mentioning Tai Po District, many people only know Tai Po Waterfront Park. However, the nearby Yuen Chau Tsai Park is also very beautiful. From Tai Po Market MTR Station, take bus K18 and get off at Kwong Fuk Estate. Walk straight along Kwong Wang Street and turn left; you will reach the park entrance in just a few minutes. It is also a popular gathering place for cyclists because it has public toilets and water dispensers. If you walk along the seaside of the park, you will reach Tai Po Waterfront Park after crossing Yuen Chau Tsai Bridge. In the other direction, you can walk from the park to Pak Shek Kok Promenade, giving you multiple options.
Take stunning beach photos.
📍Address: Duck Bay, Pak Nai, Tuen Mun
🏖️Environment/Facilities: Unobstructed sea view
💰Average cost: Free
Duck Bay is a must-visit spot when going to Pak Nai. It is an excellent location for watching the sunrise and sunset. There is a paid parking lot next to the public restroom at the entrance, where you can park motorcycles and private cars. There is a small shop at the gate where you can buy some snacks. The best part is that there is a faucet at the entrance, making it convenient for everyone to rinse their shoes/feet after playing. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the beach, where you can see the Shenzhen Bay Bridge and Shekou on the opposite side. There is also a mangrove forest. However, it is strongly recommended to check the weather conditions and tide tables before setting off, as the most beautiful time is when the sunset coincides with the lowest tide. For those who are afraid of mosquitoes, please take mosquito repellent measures. In terms of transportation, you can only take minibusses or taxis, and the waiting time during weekends can be very long.
Disneyland Hong Kong 2024
🌟 Disneyland Hong Kong is another dream destination for many people. Disney fans should not miss it at all. If you visit during Christmas, the park will be beautifully decorated with a Christmas theme.
🚅 Traveling is very convenient. Just take the MTR to the pink line Sunny Bay station and then transfer to the Disney train.
🕰 The opening and closing times vary each day. On the day we visited, it opened at 10:30 AM and the fireworks show was at 8:00 PM. You can check the opening and closing times on the Hong Kong Disneyland website or app.
✨️ For those who want to enter with fewer people to take photos and enjoy the new Frozen world zone without waiting in line, you can buy an Early Entry ticket to enter 1 hour before the park opens. It's very worth it, highly recommended.
I hope everyone has a great time at Disneyland ❤️❤️
