Yanagawa River Cruise

The Yanagawa River Cruise was one of the most relaxing and charming experiences I had in Fukuoka! Yanagawa is a historic town known for its beautiful canals, and taking a boat ride here feels like stepping back in time. The small wooden boats, known as "donkobune," are guided by local boatmen who use long poles to navigate the waterways. As we drifted through the peaceful canals, the guide sang traditional songs and shared interesting stories about the town’s history. The scenery was lovely, with weeping willows lining the riverbanks and traditional Japanese houses along the way. After the cruise, I tried the famous local dish, unagi no seiro-mushi (steamed eel over rice), which was absolutely delicious! If you’re looking for a unique and tranquil experience near Fukuoka, I highly recommend the Yanagawa River Cruise—it’s a perfect way to experience traditional Japan!
