Dali

Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, a national autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, is located in the central western part of Yunnan Province. It features a low-latitude plateau monsoon climate with distinct dry and wet seasons. Most areas experience no extreme heat in summer and no severe cold in winter, covering a total area of 29,459 square kilometers. Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture has a long history. As early as the Neolithic Age, ethnic minorities such as the Bai and Yi peoples have thrived here. During the Tang and Song dynasties, local regimes such as the 'Nanzhao Kingdom' and the 'Dali Kingdom' emerged. In 1956, the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture was established. Its capital, Dali City, is a junction of the Yunnan-Burma Road and the Yunnan-Tibet Road, historically an important transfer station for the 'Shudian Poison Road' and the 'Ancient Tea Horse Road.' It is now planned to be the central city of western Yunnan, a regional transportation hub, and a logistics center of western Yunnan. Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture boasts over 130 scenic spots and tourist areas, including the Buddhist holy site of Jizu Mountain, the Taoist famous mountain of Weibao Mountain, the cave treasure of Shibaoshan, and the plateau pearl Erhai Lake. Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake form a national scenic area, and 'Cangshan's Nature and Nanzhao Cultural Relics' are national natural and cultural heritage sites.
