A wonderful UNESCO world heritage day trip from Chongqing!

We took a tour from Chongqing, and drove the 1.5hrs to Dazu. We visited a few sites, including Beishan, The Dazu museum and Baodingshan. There are other areas to see, though probably easier to get to with your own transport. I think it might be nice also to see some of the lesser visited areas to avoid the crowds! The carvings and caves themselves are extensive, well-preserved and varied. There is enough to keep you occupied - and it might be interesting also to see the Dazu movie (though we weren't able to do so on our tour!). It's quite a tiring day out, with lots of walking, and maybe some overload in terms of carvings and statues for some - but if you're interested in Buddhism & Taoism, Chinese history and these types of caves, it's well worth a trip! #dazu #history #buddhism #taoism #caves
