If you've already seen Cologne Cathedral and are looking for a less touristy, but still authentically German place, I highly recommend this place. 📍Location: Drachenfels Drachenburg 🚆Transportation (from Cologne) From Köln Hbf (Cologne Central Station), take the RE or S-Bahn to Königswinter. The journey takes about 30 minutes. After arriving at Königswinter station, it's about a 10-minute walk to Drachenfelsbahn station. Here you'll find a century-old cogwheel railway that opened in 1883, one of the oldest surviving cogwheel railways in Germany. I recommend buying a round-trip ticket directly. 🚂 Mountain Climbing Guide First Stop: Schloss Drachenburg Many people mistake this for a medieval castle, but it was actually built in 1882. It was a German financier's dream castle. Unfortunately, he hardly ever actually lived in it after its completion.
