"We loved the experience, clean, beautiful, romantic cabins.. Quality of the bed and sofas, very good. The attention of girls makes you feel at home, super attentive and gave us recommendations to visit beautiful beaches nearby. "On the whole it was a good experience. However I have been to this hotel several times but this time the food and restaurant service really disappointed me. The beach restaurant was not coping and in two separate occasions I had to wait over 1 hour to get served. They delivered the food as it came out of the kitchen and everyone had their meals at different times. On the second occasion, I waited for an hour and a half to get served very expensive lettuce with some fish. Even though the restaurant was almost empty. The staff should be honest and tell people they cannot cope for whatever reason and let customers go somewhere else. The staff just shrugged their shoulders when I raised my request of food. Perhaps this is the time to look for other hotels in the area."

"We checked in the hotel at 3 PM parking our rental car straight from airport no stops to their parking. Which is a lot behind the guard booth with the gate that goes down and up by a security guard who questions and then allows you on the property and tells you where to park.
The night we check in our air-conditioning goes out. It’s mid 80s at night with a tropical storm pouring rain. So we had to **** all doors & windows, meaning zero air flow. Next morning we go downstairs and tell them of the problem. They sent 2 different teams of people to fix it to no success. We advised him we will be leaving the property and when we come back later this afternoon if it wasn’t fixed we were ok with changing the room.
We walk out to our car to our surprise was damaged in the parking lot. Not by a car but looks like a cart or something hit it. There is an employee/work entrance where I saw all types equipment being carried between cars yo the door. Wise they will look at their cameras. Come to find out that the cameras do not face their parking lot on their property. Even though there is a bar, a restaurant and an employee entrance and work area entrance. Their told us cameras on face the security booth to let you into the parking lot and the front of the hotel.
Returning to the hotel and changing our rooms from a king-size bed to a queen size bed which is a $40 difference tonight. That was not refunded back to us, so we were charged for a more expensive room that we were in one night. The 2nd and last night in the second room we noticed the floor was completely wet in the bathroom and figured maybe they had mopped before we came in. We were wrong also wrong. We dried the floor and later that night going to the bathroom both of us nearly fell to the ground because the floor was soaked again. The roof was leaking. Not in one location but all over.
The queen size bed mattress was broken literally broken down. To the point if you were within 3 inches to 4 inches away from the edge of the bed the mattress would just roll you off the bed.
That morning we informed them will be checking out of the hotel due to one night at a room with no air conditioning, Iour rental car was damage on their property and then taking no accountability, and the third night let’s just call it a wet room with a broken bed. They refunded the other four nights we had scheduled, but would like to give us back the difference for charging us for emergency room the one night.
Seven restaurants on their property however we couldn’t get guacamole and took over 1hour 30 minutes to figure out they have frijoles.
I asked for a manager everyday as I know the people working the counter we’re not able to fix these issues. We weren’t able to have a conversation until 1 week later after calling daily.
This provider gave me $15 worth of credits for my troubles. WOW way to make your customers fell appreciated🏆"

"Let’s start with the lows. The hostel itself is aggressively barebones. The dorm rooms are tiny, airless, and deeply uncomfortable—less “budget accommodation” and more “temporary storage for humans.” Sleeping in them felt claustrophobic at best and suffocating at worst. The fans also squeaked aggressively all night. I wouldn’t willingly put myself through that again.
The bathrooms, while decently laid out, suffered from poor upkeep. The garbage bins were emptied so infrequently that overflowing trash became the norm, which is not the ambiance one hopes for when brushing their teeth.
Now, where credit is due: the bathrooms do have hooks and shelves for toiletries—a small detail many hostels somehow still fail to grasp, and it genuinely makes a difference.
The rooftop is another bright spot: spacious, relaxed, and a genuinely enjoyable place to spend time.
The staff also deserve praise. They put real effort into creating a social atmosphere, organizing events and excursions that were well-attended and made meeting people effortless.
Ultimately, this is a full-throttle party hostel. If you value sleep, personal space, or silence, look elsewhere. I won’t be returning, the dorm rooms alone were enough to rule out a return visit. Ginger Banana hostel, which is a short walk from here, looks & feels legitimately luxurious and yet it's cheaper."

"Ended up staying here for a night while on a trip with my wife for a best friends wedding but Amazing service I could not be more satisfied from start to finish even after. Bags were taken in from the beginning straight to our room after check in. Room was clean and with a gorgeous view of the city. Felt welcomed our whole stay. We went down to the pool and towels were easily accessible and great area to swim in and relax. We then decided to have dinner down by the pool which was delicious and service was great. Server was very attentive and polite. At this point I wish we had more time to stay another night. Then ended the night relaxing in bed when we still craved refreshments from dinner and room service was fast. While getting ready to leave the next morning I noticed I left my iPad in the room and when I reached out to a manager through email (Carlos Sosa Navarrete) since calling wasn’t working for me he was really helpful and was able to send a taxi to deliver my iPad to the airport. He was so responsive through email. Honestly best experience I’ve had compared to back home. Don’t have nothing negative to say besides we wish we could’ve stayed longer. I never leave reviews but this place was a must and wasn’t missing an opportunity to let others know of this amazing spot."

GGuest UserEverything was okay except that I booked and paid a room with a large bed and they gave me first a room with two double beds, so I, of course, complained and told me the rooms were sold over, so they gave me one with 2 beds double without extra cost, I told you it was very uncomfortable because we were only my husband and I and we wouldn't sleep in a girl bed because I reserved a big bed for our dedication, total that relocated me to another room standing with only a normal bed that was for nothing big as I reserved, the truth felt me tricked, it was not what I paid and it was not my fault that they sold over the rooms, in addition to I arrived 2 minutes before 3 p.m., the time when check-in started and they told me they were all busy, which I didn't think, in addition, the hotel was half empty

ままりそThe appearance was nice in a hotel with a format!
The boy was kind and gave me chocolate on my way back, and kept my luggage for free, and it was very good!
GGeriShaikhHotel wasn't too bad for our first night. They give one small bottle of water and expect clients to get more water from their ”filtered” water dispenser, which was completely empty and didn't get refilled until the following evening when we no longer needed it. The location is not walkable to any stores, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies, etc. You need to get a taxi to go anywhere.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and that was a plus.
The size of the room was all right. The beds were very comfortable. Good lighting in the room. Good size bathroom. Nice view of city below during night hours.
The biggest negative was the AC on our second and last night was leaking onto the bed. Had to keep it off all night and bear the discomfort af a warmer temp as windows don't open.
Water pressure was really good; unfortunately, the hot water isn't consistent and would keep fluctuating between hot and cold.
I do not think the value was good considering all the negatives. I wouldn't return to this hotel.
RroshelineA super nice hostel. We loved the kitchen and free water and coffee. The staff is very helpfull and the location is super central. The bathroom was clean most of the time and the room is ok (2 pers room).
GGuest UserWe visited Oaxaca City in September, 2025, and stayed for a week at La Catrina de Alcalá. We had a King room towards the back of the building. The room was large with plenty of room to store all of our items (clothes, toiletries, backpacks, umbrellas, etc.) and was very quiet. The bedding was comfortable and the room was very clean. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The included breakfast was continental, so we ordered off the menu a couple of times. All the food was delicious and fresh. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Mole Tamale. Finally, the location was perfect! The hotel is located on a pedestrian only street in the heart of the city. We were able to walk everywhere! We would definitely recommend this hotel and will return on our next trip to Oaxaca City.
