Paul RtptRRoom 554: Great View, but Keycard Was Deactivated Before Check-out Time
I booked the room for around USD 68.06 per night, excluding breakfast. When making the reservation, I requested a higher-floor room away from the lift with a good view. I was assigned Room 554, a twin room on the right side of the building, close to the stairs. The room had a very nice mountain view.
Overall, the room was clean and well maintained. The beds and pillows were quite soft and comfortable, although the beds were a bit small. The bathroom in the twin room is fully enclosed, so there is no glass wall overlooking the bedroom, which I actually found to be a plus when sharing the room with a colleague or friend. There was no bathtub. Shaving kits were also not provided in the room and had to be requested from the reception desk.
**Food & Catering: the snacks served during the coffee breaks were fairly basic and, personally, I did not find them particularly impressive. On the first morning, chicken satay was served as one of the snack options. On the second day, rambutan and longan were provided. Unfortunately, I happened to take one piece of fruit that was already spoiled.
Lunch was arranged by the meeting organisers and consisted of Lao food. The taste was fairly ordinary for me. One dish I remember was Luang Prabang-style papaya salad, but the smell was quite strong. The sticky rice was individually wrapped in plastic bags. The portions were also more than sufficient, although most of the dishes seemed to consist mainly of meat, so there was not much variety in terms of vegetables.
The main issue: I stayed at the hotel for two nights because I was attending a two-day meeting there, but I made separate bookings for each night. On the first night, I stayed in Room 218.
I understood that the check-out time was 12:00 noon. On the day of check-out, my meeting finished shortly before noon, so I returned to my room at around 11:54 to collect my belongings before checking out.
However, when I tried to use my keycard at around 11:54, I found that it had already been deactivated, even though it was still before the stated 12:00 check-out time.
I mentioned this to the housekeeping staff nearby. She contacted reception and asked me to go to the front desk. When I explained the situation, the staff told me that the keycard system automatically deactivates the cards at around 11:30.
I was quite surprised by this because, in all the hotels I have stayed at before, a keycard normally remains valid until the official check-out time, or guests are at least informed in advance if the card will be deactivated earlier.
This incident did not ruin my stay, but I hope the hotel can review its keycard policy and either keep the cards active until the stated check-out time or clearly inform guests that the cards will be deactivated earlier.

I didn’t get to swim because I had such a busy itinerary however the stuff was amazing! And the hotel was ok however they need to clean the bathroom, it smells like piss! I think people just pee on the floor, the hotel room is better when the door is closed. You can travel around with ease to do activities.

ian_smashWe stayed in the deluxe villa for 2 nights and it was well worth it. Just chilling out on the deck and having breakfast whilst enjoying the rice field with the mountain as the backdrop is just magical. Not only was the setting but the bed was comfortable, the room was very cozy, aircon in good working order (as the heat can be unbearable during the day), amenities, shower etc were all perfect. I couldn’t get the TV working but it did not bother us so much as we were enjoying the peace and tranquility. I highly recommened waking up at dawn and take a walk through the rice fields to soak it all in whilst noone is around. Perfect time to meditate or do yoga during the summer season. Staff were also very welcoming and friendly, and would attend to our needs when required. And f you are in two minds between here and a hotel in town, I’d say here is by far more exceptional.

The stay was okay, but unfortunately the staff were not very friendly and didn’t even greet guests, which made me feel unwelcome. Also, the prices for renting a scooter were almost twice as high as at other places nearby. Overall, it was fine, but I expected a warmer atmosphere and fairer prices.

Путешествиник мираWonderful hotel! Cozy, clean bungalows. We had a bungalow with a magnificent mountain view from both the bathroom and the balcony. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, which we used several times and really enjoyed! The room had all the amenities and was quiet. The hotel is generally located a bit off the main road, so it's quiet on the property. The only minor issue was the limited food options at breakfast. There aren't many guests at the hotel, so it seems they only set out a small buffet and don't replenish it once the food runs out.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would gladly come back again.

Absolutely amazing stay - it's clear that the owners take pride in their hotel. The pool and pool area is incredibly clean. The breakfast is fantastic, fresh fruit (varied and lots of it) contained in a fridge (so fresh, cold and no bugs like a lot of other hotels). Option of cooked breakfast every morning (eggs your way). The gentleman running the hotel is so helpful, he booked several tours for us, getting us a good price and being patient when we changed our plans several times. The communal areas are incredibly clean, the staff are always working hard doing something for the hotel. The location is excellent - walkable to everything in Vang Vieng, near some nice restaurants (Green, Vela, beats and bites). Everything in the room worked perfectly. The shower had great pressure and great temperature. Bed was extremely comfortable and the TV was loaded with apps to watch TV (we used Plex as it had English language shows and films). The bathroom has soap, shampoo and fresh towels daily. The rooftop is amazing, we actually used this instead of going to rooftop bars. The hotel sells beer in the fridge at reception.
Highly highly recommend this hotel.
Genuinely we could not find any fault with this hotel at all, we over heard many guests booking to stay extra nights expressing how happy they were with the stay at the hotel and the breakfast.

freedom_najaThe breakfast was delicious and the room was clean. There's also a viewpoint upstairs. The only downside is that the swimming pool needs improvement; it didn't look very inviting.

Guest UserThe hotel's location is great, right by the river, and only 800 meters from Tham Jang Cave, so you can walk there. We had seniors and kids with us, so we skipped other lagoons; just visiting this cave was enough fun. There's also a nice food court right outside the hotel. However, the accommodation itself was very basic, almost like a guesthouse, but its location definitely makes up for it.

Very nice and clean. The bed is comfortable and the wifi is strong. There's more than enough deck chairs around the pool and on the rooftop to lounge at, and to watch the countdown fireworks that the staff launch from the entrance.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming every time I walk past the lobby. The location is very convenient and the breakfast is very worth the price. Other than the buffet on offer (which rotates daily), you can still choose an item off the ala carte menu. They also allow refilling of water bottles at breakfast, which is great for both the wallet and the environment.
Activities and laundry service that they offer are also priced pretty conveniently. I'll definitely stay here again should I come back to Vang Vieng.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the receptionist, Nong Suan, checked us in and informed us that our room had been upgraded to the best suite on the seventh floor. She was very friendly and welcoming, which was excellent! The room itself was spacious with mountain views and a view of the pool. It had all the amenities one would expect from a hotel. The TV channels were limited and only in Chinese. Regarding the room conditions, there are several areas that need improvement. For instance, there were water stains on the ceiling around the air conditioning vents in both the living room and bedroom. In the bathroom, there were yellow stains around the toilet, and the showerhead and the area where you stand to shower had stains. The silicone sealant around the sink was moldy and black. If these issues were addressed, it would be fantastic.
