I booked this for my family. It happened to be graduation season, so the rates were quite high. The room was a bit small but surprisingly a little more spacious than I'd imagined. Its convenient location, with a supermarket and restaurants directly opposite, and proximity to the train station, were definite pluses.
Nice clean hotel, spacious room, comfortable bed, everything you need. I had an issue with the radiator on the first night as it just wouldn't turn off, this was quickly sorted once I told a member of staff.
On my last night I couldn't get into my room with the keycard, it was already gone midnight so I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep, It took 2 trip's to reception from the top floor before this was resolved which left me quite annoyed.
On my last morning I paid for breakfast, It was a little disappointing, very basic selection on the continental side and the sausages were very poor quality and couldn't eat. There is however a Toby carvery across the road where I had breakfast the day before at a cheaper price, I would recommend going there instead
DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City was exactly what I needed during my business trip. Comfortable, reliable, and quietly kind. From the moment I arrived, the check-in was smooth and welcoming, and that first warm cookie felt like a small but genuine gesture of care after a long journey.
The location is convenient, close to the city centre yet peaceful enough to rest. It made moving between meetings and personal time easy, something I truly appreciated.
The room was modern, clean, and quiet. The bed was comfortable, the lighting soft, and everything worked perfectly. It was not about luxury, but about thoughtful comfort that helps you recharge.
Breakfast offered a good variety and the restaurant had a calm atmosphere that made mornings feel easy. The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help without being intrusive.
What stood out the most was the consistency. Every part of the stay felt dependable and well cared for. That sense of steadiness made it easy to relax and focus on the purpose of the trip.
Thank you DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield City for creating a space that feels balanced, peaceful, and genuinely comfortable.
We stayed in March 2024 had a good experience then, but this visit last weekend 11th May 24 was very disappointing we found the room dirty with insects crawling around under the bed, we asked to change room which we did but found the same problem which i pointed out to the night receptionist, he came up with a 3rd room clean luckily at midnight, now very tired we slept well and spoke to reception at check out who offered us a complimentary Breakfast which was nice but doesn't make you want to return again if the rooms are presented to you so dirty please see photos i did write to the hotel manager on 13th May but as yet have received NO reply

A pleasant stay in a convenient location. We were able to check in early, due to the very helpful staff. Only one lift was working though and the spa was out of commission.

This is our second night here, and we're still a party of three. Last night, we had a room with a double bed and a single bed. Tonight, we have a double bed and a sofa bed. The double bed is quite spacious and very comfortable. However, the sofa bed was not as comfortable – its mattress was thin, the pillow too soft, and it felt a bit lumpy, leading to a rather uncomfortable night's sleep. (Thankfully, the room rate tonight wasn't too high).
The location is truly excellent. Not only is it close to the train station, but it's also very near the bus stop for the bus to West Manor (which takes about an hour directly, costs £3 one way, and requires no transfers).
Great location, husband and father in law stayed the night before a visit to see the Vulcan. The room was very comfortable, the staff were very friendly and the food was superb (best fish & chips theyve had for a long time). They both had a great time and would definitely recommend.

Terrible facilities as this hotel was decorated long long time ago. I've booked the hotel for 2 nights and on the first night the wall mounted hair dryer exploded with a huge sound and burnt odour, and the hotel was fully booked so no room for us to move we have to sleep with the burnt odour. On the second day the hot water supply is broken as there was no hot water supply in my room, only room temperature (slightly warm)water, the night shift staff tried to fix it but failed. This is one of the terrible experience I've ever had. The room is also very old, please imagine 1970's rooms
Staffs are good especially the night shift staff who actively helped us. Location is good.

JJohn SalinskyThe Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as far as they could be. On the first day of our stay ( Christmas Day) there were parties going on and we had to go up several flights of stairs to get to the breakfast buffet. Everything was a little hard to find but the food was good when available. The ample grounds were an additional attraction as were the huge trees in the spacious garden.
On Christmas Day there were lots of staff looking after the various parties. On the last day, however, ther was only one poor unfortunate waiter in attendance! He did his best but it was impossible for him to keep the buffet food items fully refreshed. He had to do this as well as clearing plates etc from tables. We thought that the lack of any other waiting staff was due to the unavailability of staff from the European Union.
The bedroom facilities needed repairs which were unattended to. In particular, the control knob of the central heating radiator had fallen off and could not be replaced. The radiator was on night and day and also made an irritating noise through most of the night.
We stayed three nights in the hotel from 24th to 27th December 2023.
IN summary, we thought that the hotel could be restored to it's original splendour but would need a substantial investment to improve its standard.
The once magnificent hotel seemed sadly neglected because of lack of investment.
Otherwise the room was satisfactory. But sleep was difficult until we got more used to the noise at night.
In summary, we thought that the hotel needed a lot of money spending on it to improve the facilities and make dure there were enough staff.

OOshunniyiMy check was lovely. Easy process. Was given all the necessary information to make my stay worthwhile such as WiFi and lift process. The Italian gentleman at the reception was awesome, he even gave me ideas of where to go. I ended up taking his advice and enjoyed my night out.
In morning it was a new unfriendly cold face. I asked if she had any tissues she told me no and I had to go to the toilet for that. I collected my complimentary breakfast which I totally appreciated by the hotel . As I sat to eat my croissants in the other room, I heard another gentleman ask if he could take some extra croissants and Kas responded that he could and she even offered him blue roll. I was astonished. She shared the same excitement with another lady, complimenting her dress etc whereas I didn't not even get a warm greeting from her.
This was very disappointing. I will not be staying here again nor will I be recommending it to other friends or family members. The discrimination was obvious and would not want to expose my loved ones to Kas's behaviour.
I asked her name as I intended to make a complaint. Very disappointing for my first trip to Sheffield.
MMengskyI wouldn't consider this a good stay, as I encountered several issues. First, the check-in process was a hassle since this hotel doesn't have a front desk. I spent hours calling the hotel, facing either ”Line busy” or no response after a long wait. If it wasn’t for Trip.com's customer service finally connecting with the hotel, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Second, the wooden door in my room was difficult to close; it required a hard push and made a loud ”bang.” The glass sliding door of the shower room was also problematic, it fell out on my first pull, and I'm certainly not strong enough to break a door with just one pull. Lastly, and most frustratingly, was the toilet paper situation. It was my first time encountering a toilet without a single roll of paper. I can't imagine what I would be if I hadn't brought my own in my bag that day. On a positive note, the room was well-equipped with a fridge, oven, heater, toaster, and even an iron, which suggests the hotel might have been quite good when the things are all good a few years ago, but not now.

GGuest UserNice clean hotel, located in a nice area with plenty of bars and restaurants within a short walk.
Room was nice and big and clean, except for finding a long dark hair in the sink on arrival! Room was very quiet with the curtains only letting a small amount of light in when light outside.
Breakfast was nice with a decent selection for all, however the coffee could be better. The bar area was also nice, with a decent selection of beers.
Parking within the hotel car park was a none starter, with it being so small and also rather tight for turning around etc. instead we chose to park in an NCP Carl park on Solly street that cost £2.50 overnight on a weekend and had plenty of spaces. Weekdays costs £11 for 24hrs rather than £15 in the Hampton by Hilton.
Overall a nice stay, with nice pleasant staff. Would definitely stay again of in the area.
AAnonymous UserMy friends and I were out traveling and only arrived late at night, so we just randomly picked this hotel. It's super close to the station and offers amazing value for money. It was really nice! The price was unbelievably good, almost like what you'd pay back home. Highly, highly recommend! I'll definitely be back next time.
GGuest UserThe hotel has a nice feel about it. The single room I had was fine for one night. The bathroom was nice, it was almost as big as the room !! The shower was excellent. I did not sleep well, the mattress was rather uncomfortable. I did report it and was told they were in the process of upgrading mattresses. The staff were all very happy, welcoming and friendly.
