"My stay here was great! Wendy, one of the staff members, was very attentive and helpful. The room had excellent amenities, including a fridge and washing machine, which was super convenient for laundry and storing things during my trip. "Overall, I had a really enjoyable stay at this hotel. It’s worth noting that the hotel caters primarily to Russian tourists, so much of the signage, tours and information are aimed at Russian guests. As an English speaker, this sometimes made things a little more difficult, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying my holiday.
When I arrived, I had a couple of issues with my room. The hot tub took over an hour to fill, and the water wouldn’t stay warm while it was running, so I wasn’t really able to enjoy it. The charging ports in the room also weren’t working, although the hotel kindly provided me with an adapter, which solved that problem. Unfortunately, the hot tub issue was never resolved.
The breakfast was very good, with a nice variety of food each morning. The swimming pool was also lovely—warm, clean and a great place to relax.
My biggest concern was the fish spa. I initially thought seeing a dead fish was just a one-off, but I noticed dead fish in the spa every day during my stay. That made me question how well the spa was being maintained, and I hope the hotel looks into this.
The staff were always kind, polite and helpful, and despite the few issues, I had a lovely stay overall. With a little more attention to maintenance, particularly in the fish spa and the hot tub, this hotel would be even better."

"Our moon-gazing flight didn't arrive until after 2 AM, but the hotel proactively offered us a free upgrade to a family room. The family room was huge and super clean, with a large and a small bed, plus a big bathtub. Even though it was late, my little one couldn't resist taking a bath before bed, which really helped us unwind after a long day. The best part was the zoned air conditioning, which was perfect for kids.

Highlights include Vietnamese pho, Hainanese fried noodles, and their perfectly authentic poached egg bread. The Western bread, sandwiches, and baked pastries are all freshly baked and of high quality. There's also authentic Indian curry and rice, which is very rich and goes well with rice. The special pandan pastries are wonderfully chewy and a must-have every morning.
The water park downstairs is free for in-house guests with unlimited access, which is very convenient. It's also a great spot for photos, and there's even a dedicated photography service available."

"Transiting in Haikou on my way back from Indonesia, I noticed many hotels in this area offer shuttle services, as the airport can be a long walk and hard to find.
They offer 24-hour Meilan Airport pick-up and drop-off (unlimited rides): I arrived at 1:30 AM, and the hotel's private shuttle was waiting for me – no need to wait! If you need to go to the airport the next day, you can book it when you check in.
Hygiene: Very clean.
Environment: The bed was super comfortable.
The toiletries also felt very nice.

The front desk service was excellent too; they were very prompt with printing and opening doors for us. It's a testament to their popularity that there's a constant stream of guests at the front desk, even at this time of year. The surrounding area, a Tanka fishing village, has a relaxed, down-to-earth vibe that we really enjoyed. In the evening, we could stroll along the boardwalk on the opposite beach and even saw some 'catch-the-sea' aunties (women foraging for seafood). We experienced a distinct musty smell near the headboard due to the rain that day, which is understandable. This time the hotel wasn't very busy, so I didn't have to wait for my room. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially asking about my check-in preferences. In the afternoon, when I was heading out, I even saw a big mascot in the lobby who interacted with me, which made my stay feel super nice. There were also little squirrels, super cute! This whole experience was fantastic, and I really appreciate such thoughtful service. The price wasn't high either, making it excellent value for money!

HaimianpingjingMy stay was a pleasant surprise, and I felt very comfortable overall. The hotel's location is excellent, surrounded on three sides by a commercial street, making it very convenient for dining and shopping. The room was spotlessly clean, free of any strange odors, with good natural light and ventilation. The bedding was soft and gentle on the skin, ensuring a very sound sleep at night. The bathroom was meticulously cleaned, and the toiletries were complete and convenient to use. Gina, from guest services, was very thoughtful and efficient in resolving issues; she was incredibly patient with any questions I had. The public areas were neat and clean, and great attention was paid to details. There were no hidden extra charges, making this hotel far exceed my expectations. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my stay. Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely choose Welcome Hotel again.

To be honest, the room facilities are a bit dated; you can definitely see the age in the bathroom and furniture. But that didn't detract from our experience at all, because the butler service was simply outstanding!
From adding her on WeChat to communicate our needs during check-in, to receiving daily thoughtful weather and activity reminders, every request was met with a prompt response. The butler even specially delivered a fresh fruit platter to our room. And at check-out, she had prepared Hainan specialty souvenirs. The attention to detail was incredible, making us feel truly valued and pampered.
Moreover, the hotel's outdoor environment is absolutely stunning! The sand on the beach is as fine as flour, the seawater is crystal clear, and every photo you take looks like a wallpaper. The complimentary travel photoshoot was an even bigger surprise; the photographer patiently guided our poses, and the results were simply amazing. We ended up buying a package of over twenty photos, which was far better than any roadside photographer – why even bother with a bicycle when you have a luxury car? (a Chinese idiom meaning 'why settle for less when you can have the best')
Honestly, I truly believe that without the dedicated efforts of these high-quality professionals, this hotel would struggle to operate so smoothly. The hardware might be old, but the warmth of the people makes up for it. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who values service experience! We'll definitely be back! 👍

This hotel is very close to the airport, so there's a bit of plane noise. I booked a room at the Crowne Plaza for my last day. I asked the front desk if they could upgrade me to a pool view room, and they did. The room wasn't humid thanks to the dehumidifier. I washed my clothes and spent the last day of my relaxed trip walking around the hotel and swimming, which was very comfortable. The beach is right across the road and wasn't crowded, so a stroll there was perfect for a leisurely vacation. You can't see the sunrise directly, but you can see the ocean surface illuminated by the morning sun as it rises, and you can get close-up photos of planes taking off. It was my first time seeing a sunrise from the north, and it was quite unique and beautiful with very few people around.
I had forgotten to book a travel photoshoot in Yalong Bay before, and this hotel also offered complimentary travel photography. I asked the hotel to help me book it, and they quickly arranged an appointment. I communicated my desired style via WeChat beforehand, and I was very happy with the overall results. There was no extra upselling; they shot exactly what we discussed on WeChat. The photographer was very professional and experienced. I think the touch-up quality is comparable to Haimati (a popular photo studio), making it incredibly good value for money. If you're staying at the hotel, I highly recommend booking a photoshoot.

LinglingqishengMy InterContinental Resort stay was fantastic this time. First, a big thanks to our butler, Bonnie Tan, for upgrading us to a Deluxe Seaview room. We could see the ocean and the sunrise, although it was a pity that heavy rain the first two days made the nearshore waters murky. As of now, after two days, the yellowish area has reduced by about a third; I estimate it will take a week to fully clear up. Yesterday, the sunrise was partly obscured by clouds, but it was still beautiful.
The room layout was excellent, very spacious with a wide open plan. The bathroom had two sinks and a vanity, and the shower faced the sea, perfect for watching the sunrise in the morning. The bathtub was on the balcony; if I had stayed another day, I definitely would have enjoyed it.
The Tianfu Chinese restaurant was delicious. They had a great value couple's set menu. The Crispy Pork Sandwich was perfect for those with a taste from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. The grouper felt like it weighed a pound, and the chicken fat rice was so good I posted about it on both Dianping and Xiaohongshu. Other à la carte dishes were a bit pricey, probably 300-400 RMB per person.
The tennis court was affordable at 180 RMB an hour, including rackets. They were all Wilson rackets; I couldn't identify the model but definitely not the Clash series. There were two with thin grips and two with thicker ones. Like the court itself, they were quite old. The pink thin-grip one I used felt like the strings were a bit loose, not as tight as the blue thin-grip one. The staff also set up a table and chairs, providing towels and water, which was a nice touch.
The hotel lobby had a very high ceiling, grand decor, and an expansive space that was truly refreshing, much better than the feeling I got at the Yalong Bay Marriott. All the staff were friendly and greeted guests, and service was very responsive, including the front desk, lobby, Tianfu Bay restaurant, family pool, tennis court, and even the maintenance staff on the beach 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

**Facilities:** It's certainly showing its age. While you can tell the hotel makes an effort to maintain it, things like the non-working balcony lights, rotary-dial air conditioning panels, and poorly soundproofed rooms definitely betray its years. It's been over a decade since the last renovation; the hotel might want to consider a complete overhaul, similar to what Marriott does.
**Cleanliness:** The upkeep is good. The room was clean and tidy, and even the beach had robots tidying it up periodically.
**Environment:** This hotel boasts a prime, central location in Yalong Bay, second only to the Horizon Resort & Spa. The beach is wide, with three full rows of sun loungers with shade. The hotel's garden design is also impressive; although the vegetation coverage isn't as lush as the Sheraton (which is widely considered to have the best gardens), it's still superior to places like Horizon, Marriott, and MGM. The beachfront buffet restaurant, in particular, offers a fantastic dining atmosphere. I stayed in room 1727 this time; the direct ocean view was spectacular. However, the side view was a bit close to a garden view room, so privacy might be a concern. If the room had been a bit more central, it would have been absolutely perfect.
**Service:** Upon check-in, I connected with our butler, Frank. He was incredibly helpful with any requests, including readily agreeing to a late check-out. However, I'd suggest the hotel add cotton pads to the in-room amenities, as they're quite commonly used.

Guest UserThe room was spacious with a separate shower and toilet. Although it's not far from Qilou Old Street, it was a bit inconvenient due to the occasional rain and traveling with a child. Haikou People's Park is right downstairs. After finishing 'laoba cha' (a local tea), we went into the park to stroll around and were surprised to see so many locals exercising and relaxing there; it was really lively.

When I arrived, I had a couple of issues with my room. The hot tub took over an hour to fill, and the water wouldn’t stay warm while it was running, so I wasn’t really able to enjoy it. The charging ports in the room also weren’t working, although the hotel kindly provided me with an adapter, which solved that problem. Unfortunately, the hot tub issue was never resolved.
The breakfast was very good, with a nice variety of food each morning. The swimming pool was also lovely—warm, clean and a great place to relax.
My biggest concern was the fish spa. I initially thought seeing a dead fish was just a one-off, but I noticed dead fish in the spa every day during my stay. That made me question how well the spa was being maintained, and I hope the hotel looks into this.
The staff were always kind, polite and helpful, and despite the few issues, I had a lovely stay overall. With a little more attention to maintenance, particularly in the fish spa and the hot tub, this hotel would be even better.
